i would die if i played in the tundra. Playing in frozen dirt isnt that bad.

I played in a tournament once, in the beginning of March.   The snow had melted the week before, and then a cold snap had come in.   All the fields had been churned into mud and then the mud froze.   Because people were playing on it, and for an hour or two each day the temps rose above freezing (although it did not feel like with the 10-20 miles per hour winds!), the mud would get chewed up and then freeze again.   Players - including myself - were getting their legs sliced up by frozen ridges of mud on the field.

Frozen mud is the worst surface to play on.  Think of it as a combo of ice and broken glass!

Asked my DD and she said Turf. Generally the field is wider(which she loves) and a much faster game can be played. Her ankles hurt her more on grass. Now the polo fields in cali she said is the best grass she has ever played on. Worse was good old Stocker Fields. Local best Skagit Play fields. She is upset that College is all grass.

I personally like Turf way more then grass, its a way to show your speed on fast rolling thru balls.
