The correct thing to do for relegation should be to bring both Xfire Black and Columbia Timbers down to PDL-B.  Both teams had a total of 9 points (5 + 4) whic is less than the points of the next team up (ECFC at 11 points). This gives Sun City a chance to also play tougher competition. There is some aspects of development  like physicality, that can come from playing against bigger, faster and more skilled competion. At the same time, playing at a more comfortable level provides players with opportunity to improve technical and tactical skills through more repetition. So a mix of both during one year is indeed great  for development.

Wow it looks like Sun City Strikers, in the revised schedule, got moved to the A division with the Timbers being sent down to the B division.  I'm curious if the Timbers asked to be moved down.  It will definately be better for the team to play in B.

Can't wait for the Winter season to start.

I know some people thinks the division matters but for the Timbers and Crossfire Black it will be better IMO going into state cup with confidence and winning vs struggling each week. Glad to see the Timbers moved down as well, it does not mean they are both not quality teams overall. I personally think there are a handful of quality teams at this age and I noticed this boys thread is at 6000+ views.

Way to step into the action parents of boys!!!! :-*

On the flip side I think it's great for teams like GRFC and Sun City to move up.  GRFC is going to compete and compete well.  Sun City on the other hand is going to struggle in my opinion but they will learn an awful lot about themselves in the process.  I saw them play a couple of times and while being a good team they (like the Timbers) don't have as many scoring threats as the other teams.  Playing against those other Division 1 teams week in and week out the SC Strikers are going to learn a lot about there strengths and weaknesses that they wouldn't of learned against Division 2 teams.

This could be one of the really good things about the PDL.  If used properly like in this particular case the promotion and relegation system can be a real positive for all teams involved.

I know because of the weather and the holidays we have been inactive, but look to hit it hard again next week until game one of season two.  I'm looking forward to more games but having state cup later will mean better weather i hope. O0

Let the games begin!!! Yes, GRFC has a strong squad, but they are going to have a rude awakening in DIV 1. Yes, they will pose a better competition than Xfire black and Timbers, dono about Sun City.  WPFC nice addition!  Are any of the (3 play ups going down?
In my opinion WPFC are the team to beat not only for the pick up but for the way they finished fall league.  O0

Looks like WPFC, GRFC and NWN are signed up to play in GRFC's inaugural winter tournament, so that should give us some insight on how GRFC will match up against a couple of the top Division One teams.  Should be a way for those three teams to roll into the spring pdl season.  Should be interesting.

Last two years my sons team had to play in the snow for State Cup as did most of the other teams so it will be nice to just have to deal with the wind and rain.   ^-^

I'm hoping for a friendly or two before the season starts.

I must go down and watch some of that tournament.  Sounds like it's going to be a barn burner.]

Glad to see the revised schedule - Timbers and Crossfire are better off in Div 2.  I have seen Sun City play they dont have the fire power to win or place top in the Div 1 but they will give NWN and ECFC a good fight - they match up pretty good with these teams and style of play. GRFC on other hand will contend for the top spot.  WPFC and EFC will now have a legitimate contender and it will be intesresting to see how they match up with GRFC style of play.  This is a great schedule and matchup for BU13.

I did see the State Finals last year @ Starfire. Score does not reflect the actual play on the field.  Crossfire controlled the game, yes WPFC had some good chances to score as Crossfire played poorly for their standard.  I think they were over confident, i think that was their worst game last season. I saw them play this year, Crossfiire is much improved team, their problem is that playing up is killing them - as at this age group - size matters!  Wish McCormick is not playing up to stroke his ego, he should be playing U13 Div 1 - it will be good for everyone including his team.  They will be tough to beat - but that is good.

We played the year younger A and they spanked us. We were rusty as could be, but they did a great job of making us look bad as well. Thanks for the game. Here's to a good week of practice for us.

My wild guess on who wins the bu-13 division in the GRFC tournament this weekend is WPFC.  Although I really wouldn't want to be playing GRFC because they are going to be pumped up.  It will be interesting to see how NWN does without there big forward who went to WPFC for spring (winter) season.  They believe they won't miss him much, not because he wasn't talented but because they believe they will play better as an overall team.  Much more passing will help there team is the belief.  Time will tell.  I hope to be able to see some of the games on Monday.

Any other predictions?

NWN are crazy when they say that their lost to WPFC is not a big lost. Crazy when they say he is not talented! I bet he scores on them Monday. Great job WPFC BU12 on your win today.

Nobody has said he's not wildly talented people just think the team might be able to survive and maybe even prosper with a more team oriented approach.  I'm sure they would still rather have him on the team than not but you can't blame people for looking at the bright side of a situation.

Getting the team chemistry right is far more beneficial to a team than trying to adapt your formation and style of play to fit one or two "special" players.  Pure ability can take a backseat against a team that has the right combination of
chemistry and talent, but above all the willingness to work hard for each other.

hammer... that was an awesome post and i think that chemistry you speak of is the single most important thing any team needs and the most difficult to cfeate if coaches and players and parents dont strive for it.  it doeasnt just happen by adding removing players at tryouts.  well said.

Suprised to see WPFC 96 play in BU13 Div at GRFC Winter Classic, along with WPFC 95.  They should be playing BU12.  Are they suffering from "McCormick Complex" - too good for their own age group?  Especially with NWN, WPFC & GRFC in this division.

Looks like WPFC pretty well dominated the tournament this weekend climaxing it with a 6-0 shutout of GRFC.  Very impressive.

I agree Quiller - WPFC is pretty impressive.  Earlier in the day the NWN payed WPFC tough, losing 1-0 after Premier finally scored in the last 5 minutes.  The Nationals then played GRFC in the semis.  They played to a 0-0 draw and the Nationals lost in PK's for the second time to GRFC.

Seems to me that WPFC will be the team to beat going into the Spring PDL.  I think the Nationals can give 'em a run for their money if they can just find a little more offense and learn how to finish better.  Should be a great season, and GRFC will be a competitor

Any thoughts Blackbird?

WPFC vs GRFC 7-0 (three in the first half, four after GRFC received a red card in the second half)

WPFC put all speculation to rest after three games in eight hours.    :P :P :P

Just like any sport, offense wins games, defense wins championships. No surprise in this game.  ;D

7-0 is correct for the boys u13 finals
either way a 7-0 or a 6-0 this was a complete domination, this might have surprised some but not others.

A red card on Sunday then another on Monday  :o :-[
