Was it a fun game to watch?  I thought you guys would have some trouble without 96 regional players.  Good result.

I wasn't able to attend. So no first hand game report. Heard it was a very physical game but quite even. It sounded like Sounders were expecting a walkover and got a little more than they bargain for.

SU 3 Crossfire Jinneman 0 today.  Played a good game today.  Jinneman's team has been together for so long they really know their positioning well.  It was tough to break through with a goal.  Once SU got the first goal the game opened up a bit and SU was able to put more pressure.

Next week FW.

Nice win Quiller.

FW didn't get to play Wenatchee, after the entire team traveled the night before, the field was deemed unplayable at 9:15 Saturday night.  Not many happy parents or kids to say the least.

Does anyone know what happened with the Norpoint - NWN game?  It shows the game under protest.

Wow, nice win by Galaciticos!

NWN won a very aggressive game by both sides 3-1. Don't know why game would be under protest ?

I think it may have to do with something in a discrepancy over the scores or cards matching from the reporting teams.  Sorry, not a protest.

OK!  FW gets a double header weekend because of fields being closed at 9:00 Saturday night before the Sunday game in Moses Lake last week.  So, now our boys get to play the Wenatchee Fire on Saturday and Seattle United on Sunday.  Should be an interesting weekend.

Kind of BS that a club doesn't show enough courtesy to cancel a game at least 24 hours in advance especially when there is reasonable travel involved and especially when it's travel across the mountain passes!!!  And, because the coach was thinking logically, it included an overnight stay!!!  Wasted money!!

Brutal game today for FW against Wenatchee Fire.  The game ended in a disgusting fashion.  Two of our kids were spit on by players from the Fire.  I am sorry, but that is completely uncalled for.  FW won 3 to 1 but it was out of control and in my opinion the referee contributed to the nature of the game.  Fortunately our boys all left the field without any major injuries.  It could have been very bad!

Onward now to play Seattle United.  The loser plays Crossfire!

No surprise on the Wenatchee Players. Challenge Cup final last year they got a red for spitting on one of our players then their keeper after OT and in PKs kicks the ball away twice after being scored and gets a red and loses it for them. They can be a good team if they played with some respect!

It was really too bad to see a game end like that.  They play hard against us, but to end it like that is so uncalled for!  Too bad!

FW and SU played one heck of a game today.  Both teams played really hard and finished in a tie.  Good for SU who now plays GRFC or Eastside.  Federal Way gets Crossfire.

Number 8 from SU controlled the middle of the field and made SU a much better team then what we have seen in the past.  If I didn't have an affiliation for a particular team today it would have really been a great game to watch.  As it was, it was a great soccer game.  Kudos to the officials today as well.

Mhall, what a good game.  You guys had some heart stopping chances in the last 10 minutes or so.  Number 8 was out for all of the summer and most of the Fall season due to injury and has definitely been a welcome addition.  That was the best game I saw this year with both teams giving it their all.  Very impressed with the fitness level of FW having played two games this weekend.  The makeup game couldn't of helped your team.

You've done well against Crossfire this year, if I remember correctly so good luck.  Of course Spokane could pull the upset today then it would SU against Crossfire.  Stranger things...

Norpoint concluded their season with a 2-1 loss to Whatcom County. Whatcom played a very dirty game, and was extremely inconsistent with his distribution of cards. Whatcom went up 1-0 and Norpoint scored within the next ten minutes. Whatcom player received second yellow and was sent off, but with Norpoint's push to win we were caught on a counter attack with 2 defenders back, which resulted in a tap in from a keeper deflection.

It was perceived as Whatcom would advance as WPFC would not stand a chance against NWN, but NWN rested starters and WPFC won 2-1. Sad to see deserving non-RCL teams not advance in situations like this.

Congrats to Spokane on beating Crossfire.  Looks like FW will play Spokane and Crossfire will play NWN.

Ya never know what you're going to get.

Wow!  Crazy things happened in the U16 Championship Cup today.  The biggest news of all is probably Spokane beating Crossfire.  I would be interested to know the last time the B95 Crossfire team got beat in bracket play.  I would guess it may not have happened.

WPFC squeaks into to the quarter finals.  FW gets to travel to Spokane.  I wonder if Spokane thought when they saw the bracket if they would get to play a home game in the quarter finals!!  Anyway, the whole thing got mixed around a little to say the least.  This coming weekend should be very interesting.  Good luck to everyone!!  Especially FW!!

I was so irritated after FW's game against Wenatchee Fire because of the actions of the Wenatchee players that I sent a letter to the president of the Wenatchee Fire.  I finally got a response and it sounds more like an appeasement to a stupid parent writing in regards to some stupid incident.  I am sorry, but our kids got spit on.  Spit on!!  That is so disrespectful and completely uncalled for.  The president curtly stated that he would look into the incident.  Not even an attempt and saying something along the lines of, if this happened as you indicated I am truly sorry that this happened.  Nothing along those lines at all.  I guess I am just irritated and I would hope that if something like this happened from one of our players that apologies would be sent immediately.

OK!  Quarter finals here we come.  At least on paper there are some pretty good games this weekend.

Crossfire plays NWN.  This one should be very interesting especially since I don't think either team expected to play one another this early.  I have a feeling that this one is going to be an up and down the field battle.  Whoever is in the best shape should win this one.

Eastside plays WPFC.  Eastside has been a strong team all season.  WPFC has had their challenges all year.  Either this will be a game where Eastside will show that they belong as a top team in this age group or it will be an opportunity for WPFC to redeem themselves.  I think this will be a hard fought game and if WPFC's keeper is on, like he usually is, it may go to PK's.  This one should be fun to watch.

Seattle United plays GRFC.  I think GRFC is going to have their hands full with SU.  I watched a well played soccer game between SU and FWFC last Sunday.  If GRFC can disrupt the middle of the field they may have a chance, but I saw a very large center presence by SU on Sunday.  I have to give GRFC credit for the defensive efforts this year.  They can be strong and physical in the back and it may be enough to disrupt SU.  I don't know though, SU showed me that they are really strong right now and a force to be reckoned with.

And lastly you have FWFC traveling to beautiful Spokane.  FWFC is traveling the night before for an afternoon game so no excuses from FWFC dealing with travel.  The last time these two teams met in Spokane, Spokane jumped all over FW going up 3 to 0 in the first half.  But something lit a fire under FWFC's rear end and they erupted for 6 goals to win the match 6 to 3.  I don't imagine Spokane has forgotten that match.  These two teams always play tough against one another.  It should be a hard fought match and another great game to watch.

Well good luck to everyone.  Here's to some great soccer this weekend.   :drinks:

Good write up Mhall.

I would have to say the only real clear favorite this weekend would be Federal Way.  But then again Spokane beat Crossfire last week.
Crossfire should have a slight edge vs. Nationals but it doesn't seem like Crossfire has been playing at the same level lately.
GRFC's goalie has been outstanding in the past against SU and all of the games have been tight battles so I'm expecting a close game
Eastside is the better team between them and WP but they are not the type of team that will typically blowout another team.

In the Challenge Cup the game I'm most interested in is the Nationals vs SU Tango game.  I'm thinking it's a tossup.  I'm very surprised that Eastside White didn't advance to the Quarterfinals.  They have been a perennial power in the Challenge Cup for years now.  Shows the quality of this age group.

Best of luck to all and here's to a happy and healthy weekend. :drinks:

Not being a person who would spend alot of time reading let alone replying to any of the comments on this site, I have to say that it was interesting to read  what mhall has had to say here.... First WOW you have alot of free time!  The fact that you make comments like "Sad to see deserving non-RCL teams not advance in situations like this."  about the NWN WPFC game is a poor statement.  what makes WPFC undeserving of advancing?  If you look at their record it isn't like they got blown out of the water every game, they had a lot of ties.... yes they have a great goalie (the best in the league) but he is not the only player on the field, the defense did a great job this year. It has taken a little bit of time for this team to gel considering it only had  4 returning players from the original team (all others going to Academy).  These boys have worked hard all season to get used to playing together and it is all falling together when it really counts...what a great accomplishment, how long did it take your team to get to where they are?  pretty sure it was a little longer than a year!  Having so many teams lose  many players to academy really played a big roll in that. So......who knows what will happen with the WPFC team for the rest of the tournament, but kudos to the coach and players for getting to the semi finals the first year they played together! You can say what you want, but the reality is they made it to the top 4 teams in state!!!!!

You've got your sources wrong soccer27.  Wasn't mhall, but norpoint8 that made those comments.  Just wanted to be clear about that since, I believe, mhall always writes fair and objective posts.  Good luck to all remaining teams and congrats on making It this far

Thanks LBD!

I was going back over my posts because I couldn't remember saying anything like that.  I try and be fair and reasonably nice with my comments, unless of course there is spitting involved!

I agree, WPFC has shown improvement over the season.  But, I also think very highly of their goal keeper and know that when he was hurt there were many more goals scored against WPFC then when he was there.  It is amazing to see how these brackets have come together and great job to come through the brackets by WPFC.  This is what's cool about tournament time.  It gives teams an opportunity to redeem themselves in a sense.

Mostly I like to watch good soccer and I think the upcoming semifinal games are going to be just that.

Hey Soccer27, maybe you could give a recap of the WPFC game and let us know why the red card was issued or how the scoring went!

Good luck to everyone!

Free time is not a prerequisite to writing on this site.  I just take time to read and write on here especially on this subject because my son is involved in this age group and I like to try and keep this subject active.  There use to be a lot more people writing on this, but with the academies taking players it seems only me and Quiller are left.  I know there's more, but it would be great to see some input from the other teams.   :drinks:

Hey Plenty!

I enjoy reading your stuff from Oregon too!  I have a curiosity to know how your team is doing.  I think our boys would love to play you guys again.

Take care!

I suspect there will be opportunities this summer for a replay or perhaps a friendly sometime this spring. The OPL season just started. They're playing U-17. They tied their first game and won the last two.

Wow!  Good luck to you guys.  So, would they come back down to age to play an equivalent to our state cup?  I am not sure how things work in Oregon but do you guys play US Club or US Youth Soccer?

It's interesting because I think our game against you guys really resonated with our boys and has made them look at things a little more seriously and really put a strong effort forth each game.  I believe you guys embarrassed our boys and that has kind of set a fire under them.

They'll play U16 at state cup which is a "seeded" single elimination tournament down here. There are three U16 teams playing U17 this year. OPL has done a good job placing teams where they'll get competitive games. OPL is US Club but there is supposed to be some sort of qualifying tournament for USYS as well. It looks and reads like your boys are doing well. Good luck to them the rest of the way.

SU 2- GRFC 0
Crossfire 1 NWN 0

Quiller, I saw two players from GRFC vs/ Seattle United were 'ejected'. What's the story on that?
