Obama's Change
« on: November 07, 2008, 02:01:10 AM »

Let's see.

The first appointment that Obama has made was Rahm Emmanuel to be his chief of staff.

Emmanuel, nicknamed "Rahmbo" from his fierce partisanship and attacks against any that balked his aims when he worked for BIll Clinton, was one of the Clinton staff members involved in filegate.  For those of you who do not remember that,  the Clinton White House staff ordered hundreds of FBI dossiers on leading Republicans to be brought over to the White House and there they looked through them for dirt to use against their "enemies".

Now, when "Rahmbo" was first selected to be the chief of staff for President Obama, I was not too concerned.   I figured that a President who had zero execuative experience, who had only a couple of years of experience dealing with the national stage and national affairs, who defined his persona as open, agreeable, and accommodating, needed a strong, experienced "gatekeeper" to help him.  I actually thought that this could be a smart decision by Obama if he did it for the right reasons.

Now we hear that Kennedy Junior is going to be the head of the EPA?  As a full member of the cabinent?  The NIMBY Kennedy who wants windmills everywhere except his backyard?

So much for a new era in DC.   It looks like Obama is going to follow up on his training and his campaign promises.  It is looking like a hard left turn in DC, and the only accomodation will be others surrendering to his policies.

Even people who voted for him were hoping that he would abandon most of his campaign promises.

No wonder the stock market has fallen 1,000 points in the two days since he was elected........

Obama, you need to do better, you need to be smarter.

And know we know that Leon Peodesta is in charge of the the transition.   He is another Clintonite who earned his reputation as a seriously partisan political flunky.

At this point, I am still willing to give Obama the benefit of the doubt.   I am willing to agree with the apologisists that that claim that Obama is a smart, opportunist politician who is going to jettison all the political IOUs that got him to where he is.  Certainly, if I were in Obama's shoes, and simply wanted to be effective as a president, I might not have made any other choices than Peodesta or "Rhambo".  Seriously, his clique of left wing buddies and supporters from Chicago are not prepared to be anything other than a disaster on the national scene.    While so many of his supporters are championing his shedding these supporters. now encumbrances, it does open up the question of core values, loyalty and responsibility.

>>>The co-chair of Barack Obama's Transition Team, Valerie Jarrett, appeared on Meet the Press this weekend and used, shall we say, an interesting word to described what she thinks Barack Obama will be doing in January when he's officially sworn into office. She told Tom Brokaw that Obama will be ready to "rule" on day one. It's a word that reflects the worst fears that people have for Obama the "arrogant," the "messiah," that imagines he's here to "rule" instead of govern.

Jarret told Brokaw that "given the daunting challenges that we face, it's important that president elect Obama is prepared to really take power and begin to rule day one."

You make up a picture of McCain in a hospital bed, after the controversy in the campaign about Obama campaign ads mocking McCain for being unable to use a computer, and then you try to be indignant?

Weak, D, weak.

Oh, and have you heard about the questionaire that the Obama Transition team is sending out to prospective political appointees?   Apparently, the associations with disreputable convicts and terorrists matter for appointees, but not the president-elect.

Real classy.........

At what point does one become as "old as dirt"...at 69 like in the case of Reagan (if memory serves, he was one of D picks) or 72 like McCain?  Seems 3 years is a deal breaker for you.  You are truly one of the most gracious winner/loser of all time  ;)

Really, it was unlikely that any Republican could win this year.

Overcoming the continuous bias from the media - which has been repeatedly proven - would be a tall order.

McCain did not run a good enough campaign, and the ploy of suspendinghis campaign to go to Washington to work on the rescue package did not work.

Without Palin, McCain would have lost by ten points.

With a better educated electorate, or with a neutral main stream media, McCain would have won by a similar margin.

Let's see:

1)   Obama spokesman says that Obama has been in continuing contact with Governor Blagovich of Illinois about filling the vacant Senate seat.

2)   Blago is charged with various crimes.

3)  Obama says he has not been in any contact with Blago at all.

4)  Obama and Blago have the same previously convicted and recently indicted money bags buddy.  Who helps fund their campaigns and who gave Obama the sweetheart land deal.

5)  Obama says that his staff has not been in contact with Blago.

6)  Obama says that his staff is conducting a review of potential contacts with Blago.

7)  Obama says that the Proscutors have asked him to not put out anything about the review for a week.

8)  "Rahmbo" the Obama Chief of Staff, is outed as having conversations with Blago about the Senate seat.

9)  Obama's staff puts out a report right before Christmas saying everything is fine.   Rahmbo goes to Africa on "a family vacation".   Isn't that what Reverend Wright did when he was exposed as the racist hate monger that he is?
Obama goes to Hawaii, and there is more attention on his chest than on the Bago corruption scandal.

10)   My question is, is this going to be the theme of the Obama presidency?   When scandal breaks, everyone goes on vacation?

11)   Has Obama already set up a hiedaway retreat in Africa to send people to get them out of the media spotlight?   First Wright, now Rahmbo?

Admit it, you lefties.   If Bush had tried these tactics, there would have been impeachment hearings within the week.

Of course it is poolboy!

Just remember that BO has the ability to say ENOUGH (I know he can at least speak the word, hopefully w/o a teleprompter - the worry would be who is running the teleprompter typing in the words he utters?).  Has BO said enough at all to recent the leftist congressional shenanigans?  Mum's been the word from him on Pelosi's shattered glass ceiling shards that fell and severed her congressional bipartisan senses.  What an embarrassment that elder is to the accomplishments of women.  Think she will spend some earmarked cash on making a video of dogs parading around the office like she did with cats?  Shoot, maybe she will be adventurous and find some ferrets or an aardvark - she knows something must be done to complete the circus that started a few weeks ago.  By golly I understand the voting now - the people were not entertained enough by scandal and stupidity and knew the democrats would come through - sure republicans had some time on center stage, but this voting public is looking for a certain talent -something that begs for peanuts and popcorn!  I must give some credit – it did look like BO was enjoying some waffles with his promises and that was encouraging to see, but I think that is quickly coming to an end with what the most recent pork platter (bail out money) showing up and last week's utterance on gays in the military.  I am seriously hoping the new cami is not flamboyant rainbow.

 :P

It's a little late now, but maybe some of this can be acted on. I wrote this about two weeks ago for another posting site.  I know it's just a little bit long but worth (to republicans any way) the read:

Quote
TOP FIVE THINGS TO DO BEFORE OBAMA TAKES OFFICE

In reviewing today's news on-line with my morning coffee, I noticed how quickly time has flown to the date this new president takes office.

I have often been asked by family and friends why I believe Obama is a troubling selection for the US Presidency.  So, in usual satirical fashion, below is my top five list (condensed from so many things worthy to mention) along with some interesting documentation that might stir you to action BEFORE he takes office.  #1 is something I just recently took notice of and further supports my growing belief that Obama is a sly deceiver; BUT we as a nation can recover from that, American Democracy is still alive and implores you to review what is important and take action, please make your voice heard - read on....

Conflicts across the globe and an international respect for Barack Obama have created the perfect setting for establishment of "a New World Order," according to Henry Kissinger, the Nobel Peace Prize winner and former secretary of state under President Nixon.  Kissinger has long been an integral figure in U.S. foreign policy, holding positions in the Nixon, Ford and Reagan administrations. Author of over a dozen books on foreign policy, Kissinger was also named by President Bush as the chairman of the Sept. 11 investigatory commission.  Kissinger made the remark in an interview with CNBC's "Squawk on the Street" hosts Mark Haines and Erin Burnett at the New York Stock Exchange, after Burnett asked him what international conflict would define the Obama administration's foreign policy.

"The president-elect is coming into office at a moment when there is upheaval in many parts of the world simultaneously," Kissinger responded. "You have India, Pakistan; you have the jihadist movement. So he can't really say there is one problem, that it's the most important one. But he can give new impetus to American foreign policy partly because the reception of him is so extraordinary around the world. His task will be to develop an overall strategy for America in this period when, really, a new world order can be created. It's a great opportunity, it isn't just a crisis."

The phrase 'new world order' traces back at least as far as 1940, when author H.G. Wells used it as the title of a book about a socialist, unified, one-world government. The phrase has also been linked to American presidents, including Woodrow Wilson, whose work on establishing the League of Nations pioneered the concept of international government bodies, and to the first President Bush, who used it in a 1989 speech.

"A new partnership of nations has begun, and we stand today at a unique and extraordinary moment," said Bush before a joint session of Congress. "Out of these troubled times, our fifth objective - a new world order - can emerge: A new era ... in which the nations of the world, east and west, north and south, can prosper and live in harmony."

The phrase "New World Order" causes alarm for many Americans, particularly those concerned about an international governing body trumping U.S. sovereignty or those that interpret biblical prophecy to foretell the establishment of a one-world government as key to the rise of the Antichrist. Conspiracy theorists, too, have latched on to the phrase, concerned that powerful financial or government figures are secretly plotting to rule the world.  Kissinger's ties to government and international powers - as well as his use of the phrase - have made him suspect in the eyes of many who are wary of what "new world order" might actually mean.

"There is a need for a new world order," Kissinger told PBS interviewer Charlie Rose last year, "I think that at the end of this administration, with all its turmoil, and at the beginning of the next, we might actually witness the creation of a new order - because people looking in the abyss, even in the Islamic world, have to conclude that at some point, ordered expectations must return under a different system."

#4  Consider your mattress as the best savings account possible to take advantage of those elusive "tax cuts" Obama supposedly conjured up.  If they even appear, tuck those promised dollars saved from the long talked about stimulus plan into those mattress fitted flannel sheets so you are ready to pay out the soon to come tax hikes!  Democrats are such a sly bunch - save a little now, but pay harshly more for it later.  Say, has Obama spread his personal, monetary wealth yet?

One of the biggest challenges President-elect Barack Obama faces in the years to come is how to both enact "swift and bold" changes to public policy while still blaming President Bush for everything that is bad about the economy. Hence Obama's press conference recently where he anesthetized Americans to the likelihood of "trillion dollar deficits for years to come. " Of course, Obama quickly blamed others for the massive shortfall, explaining: "When the American people spoke last November, they were demanding change - change in policies that helped deliver the worst economic crisis that we've seen since the Great Depression."But then Obama completely failed to explain how his administration would rein in these deficits. The New York Times reports:

Mr. Obama declined to say on Tuesday whether the budget that his administration submits to Congress in February would be larger than the $3.1 trillion budget that President Bush submitted for the current fiscal year. He also did not offer any specific examples of how spending could be controlled, saying only that his advisers had been scouring the budget looking for programs that could be eliminated.

Scariest of all, is that Obama's deficit warnings did not include any of the costs of his own trillion dollar stimulus plan.  Obama's plan does contain some tax cuts, but only temporary cuts that have a proven track record of being completely ineffective at stimulating the economy. In contrast to his vary temporary tax cuts, Obama's plan has hundreds of billions of dollars in new spending, the majority of which is destined to become permanent increases federal spending. On Saturday, Obama promised to create 600,000 new government employees. Those salaries and lifetime government funded pensions will be with us forever. His proposed expansion of unemployment insurance to part-time workers will also be a permanent new government expenditure as will the plan's proposal to expand Medicaid benefits to out-of-work Americans.

The Democrats in Congress are also eager to include expansion of Medicare eligibility into any stimulus package. And then we haven't even talked about Obama's health care plan which will create a government run health care plan much like Medicare that any American can enroll in. Obama's health care plan will force tens of millions of Americans out of their current coverage and into the government's one size fits all solution. The cost to taxpayers: $452 billion per year, or more than $6 trillion over a 10-year period.

Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI) had it right when he told the Wall Street Journal: "Those aren't stimulus. Those are ideological accomplishments in the guise of economic stimulus." The left has always wanted to permanently expand the size of the federal government and they know this recession is a great opportunity to accomplish that task. As Obama's chief of staff Rahm Emanuel recently said, "You never allow a serious crisis to go to waste."

#3  Ask the editors of your favorite dictionary to highlight the original meaning of bipartisanship - while mentioning this, let's give kudos to Pelosi; when that glass ceiling of hers broke, falling shards must have severed the lifeline to her constitutional sensibility.  Will Obama step in and say ENOUGH?

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi  re-wrote House rules to ensure that the Republican minority are unable to have any influence on legislation. Pelosi's actions are so draconian, and will so polarize the Capitol, that any thought President-elect Obama has of bipartisan cooperation will be rendered impossible before he even takes office.

Pelosi's rule changes -- which may be voted on today -- will reverse the fairness rules that were written around Newt Gingrich's "Contract with America."

In reaction, the House Republican leadership is sending a letter today to Pelosi to object to changes to House Rules this week that would bar Republicans from offering alternative bills, amendments to Democrat bills or even the guarantee of open debate accessible by motions to recommit for any piece of legislation during the entire 111th Congress. These procedural abuses, as outlined in the below letter obtained by HUMAN EVENTS, would also include the repeal of six-year limit for committee chairmen and other House Rules reform measures enacted in 1995 as part of the Contract with America.

#2  Support the next big spending initiative: Send Obama and his incoming staff (including the Mrs.) to a military Boot Camp.  Worthwhile Congressional spending earmark: Supplemental education for the military impaired.

When asked how they feel about President-elect Barack Obama as commander in chief, six out of 10 active-duty service members say they are uncertain or pessimistic, according to a Military Times survey.  In follow-up interviews, respondents expressed concerns about Obama's lack of military service and experience leading men and women in uniform.

"Being that the Marine Corps can be sent anywhere in the world with the snap of his fingers, nobody has confidence in this guy as commander in chief," said one lance corporal who asked not to be identified.  For eight years, members of the U.S. military have served under a Republican commander in chief who reflected their generally conservative views and led them to war in Afghanistan and Iraq.

Now, the troops face change not only at the very top of the chain of command, as Obama nears his Jan. 20 inauguration, but perhaps in mission, policy and values.

Underlying much of the uncertainty is Obama's stated 16-month timetable for pulling combat troops out of Iraq, as well as his calls to end the "don't ask, don't tell" policy to allow gays to serve openly in the military, according to survey responses and interviews.

"How are you going to safely pull combat troops out of Iraq?" said Air Force 1st Lt. Rachel Kleinpeter, an intelligence officer with the 100th Operations Support Squadron at RAF Mildenhall, England. "And if you're pulling out combat troops, who are you leaving to help support what's left? What happens if Iraq falls back into chaos? Are we going to be there in five years doing the same thing over again?"

When asked who has their best interests at heart - Obama or President George W. Bush - a higher percentage of respondents picked Bush, though Bush has lost ground over time. About half of the respondents said Bush has their best interests at heart this year, the same percentage as last year but a decline from 69 percent in 2004.Nearly one-third of respondents - including eight out of 10 black service members - said they are optimistic about their incoming boss.

Even some service members who voted against Obama - only 1 in 4 supported him over Sen. John McCain in a pre-election survey of Military Times subscribers -now express goodwill toward him as their new commander in chief.

"Overall, the prospect of having someone who isn't necessarily tied to old strategies is a good thing," said Air Force Master Sgt. David Ortegon, who said he voted for McCain. "Sometimes you need a fresh perspective to be able to handle our military readiness and the needs of the nation."

The findings are part of the sixth annual Military Times survey of subscribers to Army Times, Air Force Times, Navy Times and Marine Corps Times newspapers. This year's survey, conducted Dec. 1 through Dec. 8, included more than 1,900 active-duty respondents.  The responses are not representative of the opinions of the military as a whole. The survey group overall under-represents minorities, women and junior enlisted service members, and over-represents soldiers.  But as a snapshot of the professional corps, the responses highlight the challenges Obama faces as he prepares to take command of military careerists with different political and cultural attitudes.  In keeping with previous surveys, nearly half of the respondents described their political views as conservative or very conservative. Slightly more than half said they consider themselves Republicans, 22 percent independents and 13 percent Democrats.  Peter Feaver, a political science professor at Duke University who has written extensively about civil-military relations, said a degree of uncertainty among service members toward Obama is appropriate, given their questions about how he will govern as commander in chief.

"Those numbers don't convince me he has got a big problem on his hands because what he is seeing is not military hostility, but rather military caution, and caution that is reasonable because he has never been in the position of this office," Feaver said. "It's sensible and understandable that they have doubts about him. They respect the office of the commander in chief," Feaver said. "As long as he wields that office responsibly, then these numbers need not morph into a problem."

David Segal, a military sociologist at the University of Maryland, said respondents' optimism toward Obama can be partially attributed to confidence in his military advisers, including Richard Danzig, former secretary of the Navy, and retired Gen. James Jones Jr., former commandant of the Marine Corps and NATO's Supreme Allied Commander Europe.  On Dec. 1, the day the survey was released, Obama announced his national security team, including Jones as national security adviser and Robert Gates, a holdover from the Bush administration, as defense secretary.

"There is an understanding that the president doesn't do all his own paperwork," Segal said. "The quality of any president is going to depend on the quality of the people he has around him."

Ammunition Accountability Legislation

Obama and his allies in the anti-gun world have no problem with taking control of ammo amid the promise not to take away gun ownership!

The bill that is being pushed in 18 states requires all ammunition to be encoded by the manufacture via a data base of all ammunition sales. This will allow the state to know how much you buy and what calibers.   This bill seems to say that one can't sell any ammunition after June 30, 2009 unless the ammunition is coded.  Any privately held non-coded ammunition must be destroyed by July 1, 2011.  (Including hand loaded ammo.)  An additional  05 cent tax on every round  is proposed so every box of ammo you buy may go up at least $2.50.  Controlling and taxing ammo sales like this may help keep the gun ownership promise as Obama is not proposing gun changes but ammo changes, which greatly hinders gun use.  Unless pistol whipping becomes popular, what good is a gun w/o ammo?  Hopefully you can see the deceptiveness in Obama's gun ownership promise. The bill is designed to reduce the ability to purchase ammo making it more expensive and harder to get - but hey, you will still have your gun - right.....

This legislation is currently pending in 18 states:  Alabama, Arizona, California, Connecticut, Hawaii, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, Mississippi, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Washington.

Fight to dissolve this BILL!!  To find more about the anti-gun group that is sponsoring this legislation and the specific legislation for each state, go to:

For those of you who do watch the finacial markets daily it is very rare for the stock market drop significantly at the same time the bond market is dropping.  Today on Inauguration Day both are tanking.

Bush more then likely saved our country from many more terrorist attacks and many more US deaths.
But because of his actions we will truly never know how many lives he actually saved.
