52%.

Really kicking ass, Dragon, a real tidal wave of support.

LOL

It seems you don't follow politics as close as I thought.  Winning by 6-7% is a big margin in these days.

Lets look at how Bush did the last 2 elections, then you can tell me what you think:

2000

BUSH V GORE-

BUSH - popular vote - 50,456,062

GORE - popular vote - 50,996,582

Bush is (-negative) 540,520 votes (mmmmm real support there)

and

Electoral Votes

BUSH - 271
GORE - 266

a +5 votes for Bush... (WOW a whole 5) LMAO

2004

BUSH V KERRY

BUSH - popular vote - 62,039,073

KERRY - popular vote - 59,027,478

Bush is finally +positive in the popular vote by a whopping 3,011,595 (wow, are we impressed?  A whole 3 million people more) LOL

and

Electoral Votes

BUSH - 286
GORE - 251

a +35 votes for Bush... (WOW 35, omg that is awesome) LMAO

NOW LETS COMPARE!

OBAMA V MCCAIN

Popular vote - (so far)

OBAMA - 66,624,424  (most votes for a President EVER)

MCCAIN - 58,182,349

OBAMA is a +plus 8,442,075  (now that is HUGE compared to Bush is 04, unless your not a math person)

Electoral Votes-

OBAMA 365
MCCAIN 173

a +192 for Obama!!!  That "my friends" IS AN ASS WHOOPING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  LOL

PLUS don't forget all the RED STATES THAT ARE NOW BLUE!

VIRGINIA
INDIANA
NORTH CAROLINA
OHIO
FLORIDA
NEW MEXICO
COLORADO
NEVADA
(And don't forget the district in Omaha Neb)

NOW, if this is not an AssWhoopin', I don't know what is ;D ;D ;D

1936 Presidential General Election Results:

Presidential Candidate..... Vice Presidential Candidate...... Political Party........ Popular Vote................. Electoral Vote
 Franklin Roosevelt......... John Garner........................ Democratic........... 27,752,648   60.80%......... 523   98.5%
 Alfred Landon.............. Frank Knox.......................... Republican........... 16,681,862   36.54%............ 8     1.5%

Now that's taking someone behind the woodshead.  ;)

So you think that was a blowout?

Try this.......

On October 7, 1916, Georgia Tech defeated Cumberland University, 222-0, in the most lopsided game in college football history. The trouncing was inspired in part by Cumberland's 22-0 whipping of the Tech baseball team the previous spring. Allegations were made suggesting that Cumberland had used professional players in the game, and Tech football coach Heisman (who also coached the baseball team) vowed revenge. Georgia Tech scored thirty-two touchdowns, rushed the ball for 978 yards, and did not attempt a pass in the blockbuster win.

I'm so confused, I've been trying to follow all your threads on this subject.  First you tell us that you are a great prognosticator of presidents, having voted for Bush Jr (you would be one of 50,456,062 who voted for both a winner AND a loser in that election), next you make light of the electoral vote victory for the guy that you picked in both elections. I am a self admitted dyslexic, but even I can do the math and based on the numbers you put up there, Obama's victory was 2.14% greater than Bush's victory in 2004.  Any scientist or mathematician will tell you that is statistically insignificant.  When faced with statistics to dispute your claims, the ones that you initiated in this very post, you chuckle and make glib remarks.  So what's your purpose in posting this information...are we all supposed to accept your facts on blind faith?  Or can we think for ourselves, review the facts/figures and offer a rebuttal.  There is an old saying, Figures never lie, but liars always figure.

2 percent more IS big in Politics (next time ask a politician not  a scientist or mathematician ) ;).  Anything above 5% points is considered a good win.  You don't have to accept what I say but I will still say it... (much like the people on Fox News).  I post this information from sources that record such things, if you need links to all of them I would be glad to abide you.

Truely I believe I am a gracious loser...if you don't believe that then look back on 18,000 or so of my posts were I praise OTHER PEOPLE's CHILDREN AND OTHER PEOPLES TEAMS...Look back at the Players of the Year, who even though I had help in some cases with picking the winners, I had the final say in who won Player of the Year, and I dare you to call one of those children mine.

More truth is that I am a Poor Winner...And countless times I have fought the urge to say; "nah nah nah nah" about a soccer game or match...but I thought with politics I would not have to bite my tounge since we are all adults talking about adult issues....  that, and its soooo much fun to gloat after working so very hard the last 2 years to get my canidate elected...so If I piss off some of you, so be it!!!  TOUGH!
BUT
Guess what, I will still praise your children over mine come tomorrow ;D

I have no idea what all that bloviating was all about & why you hijacked your own thread to talk about how you've supported the other soccer players/teams....a non sequitor if ever there was one.  As far as being gracious where other soccer players are concerned, I'll have to take your word for it as I've not the time nor the interest to sift through 18,000 posts.  My head hurts just trying to follow your flawed logic in this one thread.  If nothing else, this has been mildly entertaining & I definitely think you should pursue a career in politics.  You've missed your calling

While 52% is a definite victory...it is FAR from any type of mandate!  What it says is that slightly more than half fo the country voted for Obama...and slightly less than 50% voted against.  What it does show is that this country is still VERY divided ideologically.  Dragon's stats for the past several elections further validates that point.

That said, what needs to happen (and it never will since we are talking politics) is that we need to come together as a country and support our president at all costs.  It does not mean that we need to blindly agree with anything that comes from his mouth...in fact, we all need to work hard to be sure that our president and Congress stay on track (whatever you individually believe that track to be).  While I voted against Obama, he is my president now.  It is now up to me to continue to work to ensure programs and policies that I believe in are represented.

Those who railed against Bush and Clinton relentlessly over the past 16 years did more to harm our country's image abroad (not that I care what France or Germany thinks of us) than the men they were calling "cheaters", "liars", etc.  I hope that no matter how Obama performs, we all are able to work together to keep this country the greatest country in the world.

Hi Dragon,

Ive got a question for you that I've been puzzled about.

Awhile back, you listed your favorite presidents as:

Ford (was sad he never got elected)
Bush Senior
Clinton (the first term) LOL
and Regan (both terms)
I hope to add Obama to my list

The question is, what is the underlying philosopy that connects those?

I respect your opinion, and had never seen a connection between those.  Well, other than I didn't vote for any except Obama.

It appears that Washington state had an 85% turnout for this past election, a new record.  The old record was 84.5%--from 1944!

Yes, I know some one will claim this high vote count is just more evidence that Democrats all voted twice, or try to re-float that baseless claim of rapant voter fraud, or this is a result of George Soros or some other boogeyman buying the election.  Still, it says some thing that over 3 million of your fellow citizens still have faith in the democratic process.  Let's just rejoice in that for a change!

Dragon,

If you truely think that Obama and the Democrats won any sort of mandate, or that this was a decisive victory that changes the natioanl political template, then I have to ask you to pass the bong, you have held it far too long.

And I love you laughing at Bush for winning in 2000 with only 5 electoral votes.  Gore lost his home state in that election.

Do you remember how many electoral votes that was?

Hint - You already provided the number.

Can anyone think of any person who has less qualifications that was successful in running for President than Obama? And no, race is not a qualification.  Feeling good for voting for a black man to be president may be a motivation to vote for him, it is not a qualification for the man.  Ditto sex for the Hilary die hards.

The only qualification that I can see is actually a big one.  He was able to defeat the Clinton Political Machine.   No Republican was able to do that, obviously.  And like or hate George Bush, everyone has to admit that he has not been the most skilled politician to come around the block.......   And that has impacted - almost as much as the tenacious, programmed, politically motivated, nationally destructive obstructionism that the Democrat Party engaged in for the past 8 years - Bush's ability to be a successful president.

We have already seeing more signs of how "good" a politician Obama is by the way he is jettisoning all the campaign promise baggage he won the nomination with.   And that is being met with great applause from all but the far left wackos who where his base in the Democrat party.

RIght now, he seems to make Jimmy Carter look experienced and capable.  And Carter was the worst President since Hoover.  Perahps even since the first Johnson.

I hope that Obama is successful, and makes the country more successful.  But rational people have their concerns........
