DD has attended all of the sessions so far and she will continue.  She did the Striker, Mid-Fielder and now is in the Defender class.
She spent over 2 years in the ManU school and the other day I asked her what she thought the difference was and she said, "Manchester was more about what to do with the ball, this is more about what to do with out."
Right now the Monday nights work great for us but there are some that would like to see the program expanded to other nights and I'm sure it will.
The number of kids sure jumped for the current session and caught Darren by surprise.  Seems a lot of teams were taking time off and the kids didn't want to.
Ratio of players to coaches is fluctating and needs to get stabalized to a proper number.
Coaches are all great and seem to putting forth a good effort and not there just for show.
The $200 bucks buys a kit but once you have it you are still paying the full $200.  It would be nice to seperate that expense or expand the kit to warmups and/or rain gear.
It's a good tough workout and not much time standing around.
Overall I would call it a success and much needed.  We'll be there for the next session.

It looks like I'm reading things wrong but Sounders FC site states the following about YDP.

http://soundersfc.com/article.aspx?id=1824

Price
The price for each each week session is $200 :(

After seeing this post and another one from WYSA it looks like $200 for the six week session.  Correct?

We have 2 DD's from our team down there, the one thing that confused me though is there really division between posistions, all I see is age division and Keepers. And why didn't they get the XBox logo on the fronts of the jersey, that would have been spiffy  8)

First on the question of Keepers, last monday I counted 34 kids, not sure how many instructors there were but they had the group working hard.  The keepers train independently of the other kids.  During the other sessions a few of the Keepers would come down to work against the Strikers and Midfielders for a short portion of the night.  I think the fewest number of keepers during a session was about 12, so 12 to 34 is quite a range.

With respect to the division of positions.  In the advanced classes that specialize in positions, the drills that lead up to the scrimages are position based.  The classes have been divided up by age groups and sometimes merge together during the scirmages.  I define it like this, it's trainging with a striker twist or emphasis, the next six weeks were training with a mid-fielder twist, this session is training with a defender twist, if that makes sense.

Wow - was down at Starfire last night...holy cow there were a lot of kids!!  Was nice to run into some schoolmates of my DD who played on our middle school team but have never played competitive soccer.  It will be very interesting to get their perspective on the learning - very excited that they are participating in this program.

I really wish this was offered on other days than Mon/Wed...it conflicts with our club practices so we can't take advantage  :(

The Jan 12 session for U13-U18 seems to be setup to  focus on Defense Skills. I guess I am wondering how position specific these sessions really are. DS is currently playing defense but wants to work on midfield and offensive skills. Wondering if there is any value signing up for this or just wait until the next sessions start.

Starting next week you'll notice they've change the format some.  Instead of just one position, all three are being offered in the next session. That should lead to smaller classes and better coach/player ratios and more position specific training because when the go into scrimmages they may have enough to keep each player in their specific position.

DD loves the program, this will be her 4th session.

I'm glad to hear good things about it. I will have a DD in each age group (Striker/Forward) starting Monday. Three hours a night at Starfire! It could be worse.
