"Player Signing"clarification
« on: January 05, 2009, 02:15:12 PM »

I'm not understanding the purpose of the "player signing".  Is the intent to lock players to a team for the season?  Or is it the equivalent to player registration...just delayed by 21 days to allow for multiple tryout options. ???

Another question is who's pushing the idea?

They want the signature so the player is locked in to the team. You do have that grace period before you can jump ship, but is basically this is the reasoning for the contract -- to stay with the team. Comes from the clubs. Clubs are tired of having kids leave, and stuck with a bill from one or more players that leave. Recruitment can also keep from happening.
Clubs want their players, clubs want to be re-assured on their money. Makes sense really.
You do have the grace period. Just make sure this is the team that is right for your kid or you are stuck for an entire year.
Regardless, won't stop players from leaving. Just make more creative ways to guest play, and practice with another team. Then come the new year -- bye bye.

Oh, I get it...it's a contract?  So are the DK's going to get paid weekly, every 2 weeks...or what?  And will the coaches/clubs be signing contracts too?  Just INSANE!  What are they/we thinking  :o
