'96 Oregon ODP pool announced.....

They announced the pool yesterday. Tryouts got pushed back due to weather in December, so we had a tryout this last weekend.

My DD made the team!  :o ;D

It was an agonizing day waiting for the list yesterday, DD was climbing the walls. I don't know how you Washington ODP families do it, waiting weeks for a letter for an invite back!

Last Sunday's Wa G96 ODP tryout was supposed to be the final one. At the tryout, they had a meeting with all of the returning players parents and informed them that there was going to be one more tryout and then the pool would be selected :o Now my DD gets to "climb the walls" waiting for an email to see if she stays alive for one more tryout. Then, it would happen again, and you wait for an email to see if she gets selected to be in the pool. They seemed to be happy with the talent and want to form 2 teams so that's a good sign. All in all, after traveling over the pass 4 times so far, this has been a great great experience for my DD. She is really enjoying the journey and enjoys the thrill of the chase O0

Gotta love the cheerful attitude to this long 5-6 month process. You deserve a big +KK for that.

Why is it so long?
Is it because the ODP isn't scouting themselves and want to see everybody? Do they still take reccomdations from coaches?
Are they taking their time to see all the kids in various scenarios to be able to pick the best?
I really don't have a clue about ODP can ya tell?  :o

Same thing happened w/ 95 pool =    took returning parents  aside and told them to expect another tryout in FEB and pool named in March.      But dd told me on the drive home that the coaches told them that tryouts were over. ??? ??? ???

It's too bad that we couldn't get our team (act) togther so the 95's could go down to Regionals this weekend.

Did the 96 WA ODP group decide they'd make 2 teams from all the girls?  What about '94?  One or two teams from them?
'95 girls said there would only be one team.

'95 girls said there would only be one team.

They said they would take around 36 kids and were hopeful to field two teams.

We were only told that the notifications will be in the next 2 weeks. Past experince says that it will probably be towards the end of next week.
