Quick note on the WSA vs timbers game. Should be a heck of a game... Only losses of the year for timbers happens to be WSA, and WSA only has 3 losses all year, 2 of them to eastside white and 1 to Timbers blue. So out of the 5 losses these two teams have 3 are to each other. What a fun matchup. Also in my rankings I have timbers 20 and WSA 21, so you can't get much closer, this game could really go either way and Whoever wins claims #20 in my poll.
If it is straight up, it will be WSA.
If Timbers pull kids from the A team and the U13 team, Timbers.
Bottom line is that until State Cup it does not matter because with the player pass you do not know who is playing where.
PDL Player pass is a great idea, but too many teams and or clubs use it for competitive advantage rather than player development.
So if a team uses the player pass because a player is sick or injured are they still using it for the competitive advantage?
And if im not mistaken WSA just picked up a player good enough to be on an A team... just something i heard through the grapevine.
Here are the facts:
WSA United 96 won 2-0 in pool play and 1-0 in the finals against CPSC Timbers Blue in the Copa Division of the Rainer Challenge. All 14 of the rostered girls played. They did not have any guest players play in the Rainer Challenge.
WSA United 96 lost 1-2 to the CPSC Timbers Blue in the finals in the Silver Division of the Chinook Cup. 2 of the rostered girls were not available to play any game during the tournament and 1 rostered girl was not available for the quarters, semis or final games. Due to the fact that they only had 12/11 players available WSA United 96 had the "picked up player" guest play and a player from the WSA United 97 for the Chinook Cup.
WSA United 96 had an open roster spot and wanted to bring the "picked up player" onto the team however she had made a commitment for the fall season and she honored that commitment. She was available for the spring season and Challenge/Championship Cup. My understanding is that one of the WSA/FCV Glory coaches also knew her and brought her in to play and she will be playing for both of the teams.
I can think of 3 games during the fall season where the teams they played had A team players play against the WSA United 96. The reason for that is not known to me however I know the United 96 enjoy the challenge. I hope that they play up to their potential this weekend and beyond as I'm sure any fan of the game does. As it was said before it should be one heck of a game.
