Seattle Wolves FC Announces Partnership with Nike
« on: February 10, 2009, 12:44:40 AM »

The Seattle Wolves Football Club reached an agreement with Nike recently, which will make the sporting giant the Wolves Official Partner and Supplier through 2012.

The Seattle Wolves have always worn Nike, even at the very beginning, when the Wolves were only a local pub team competing in the Greater Seattle Soccer League. “Now we won’t have to pay for so much of it!” joked Wolves’ Assistant General Manager, Clay Walton-House.  “The Wolves strategic partnership with Nike officially confirms what the Wolves’ management team has always believed; Nike is the apparel and equipment brand in line with the Wolves’ brand.” Walton-House continued.

The Wolves will unveil their new 2009 Nike uniforms during the PCSL pre-season, at a match to be determined.

Wolves’ General Manager, Andrew Opatkiewicz, commented “We are very excited to partner with Nike, and hope that this is only the beginning of a long-lasting relationship, which is mutually beneficial and creates exciting projects.”

When asked why Nike is the right fit for the Wolves, Opatkiewicz answered, “Nike represents the highest of quality and integrity, as well as a commitment to always progressing, always improving. Their products are usually of simple design, outwardly, but often utilize fantastic technologies. In many ways, I can see correlations to how Nike have developed their products, and how the Seattle Wolves hope to develop as a football club.”

“Obviously the consistency in branding was an attractive piece that only Nike could bring to the table. It’s a great brand, which produces great products. The Wolves have always worn Nike, and we try to stress to our players the power of consistent play. So, that fit nicely. “– Alex Weaver, Wolves’ Technical Director

When asked for comment, Jessie Fream, Nike Soccer Club Representative, wrote “I’m thrilled that the Wolves have decided to go with Nike, and am eager to get the ball rolling with the club.”

Nike is a huge company, with branches reaching almost all of the world’s sports. The company’s recent focus and commitment to its football products in the United States was highlighted when in March of 2008, Nike purchased the British football company, Umbro. With the growing popularity of the sport of football in the United States and across the world, Nike, now the largest brand in world football will look to create some unique products in 2009 and 2010.
Opatkiewicz finished by saying, “The partnership agreement has come at the perfect time, as we are currently preparing for our 2009 campaign, when we will compete in over 115 matches in 8+ different league and tournament competitions. The Wolves have professional aspirations in 2010 as well. Our strategic partnership with Nike should prove an important piece in our development on and off the pitch in 2009.”
