Really?  This team is going to pigeon hole players at 9 and 10 years old...  Team should be looking for two coachable players, which for this age will be relative at best.  Arghhh!!!

With State Cup a month away I think you need a player already familiar with a position. See topic 'How do you change a defender into a hungry striker?'

NOTMadBUT....

Seriously??  This seems a bit laughable...... at U11 how in the heck can you possibly have defined rolls for players?  You must be about the best damn coach on the planet, with out of this world vision!

Suggestion:

Why don't you coach your players in different positions, and figure out who is "seems" to have a nose for the goal, and who can shut down the best of forwards?  At U11 it should be about training and player development.  If you can, take pride in discovering who your scorers are, and develop them, so that by U14/15 they are doing their jobs..... Come on, U11??... this is a joke.

...... :-*

A better advertisement...  ;D

U11 - Looking for a few good players (US Marines theme song in the background, starts up...)

Forwards:  A couple of dominate guys that work off eachother and put in a couple of goals every game.
Mid: Need 4 good skills guys that can play the long ball as well as silky short stuff with both feet.
Winger: Need 1 lefty with speed, and a righty with a cannon leg.
Defenders: Looking for someone that is dominate in the air, and another that hits like a tank.
GK: Need an agressive physical GK, with good communication skills, and another player who is willing to be a backup.

That's about it.  I think I can make-do for the U11 season with this, will fine tune this as the season progresses.

Sincerely,

Bored in Seattle...(rain won't quit)  8)

Seems a bit hypocritical to have an add for U11 positions, and another add for player/training/development/skills.  Gosh it's U11??  Maybe it's really a typo on the 11,... should have said "U21".

wow calm down
it is my team and not your concern
I develop players fine dont worry about that
I dont underestimate 11 year olds
i used to play in europe and they start training us positions training at the age of 9
It doesnt mean they didnt try us in different positions
Agressive forward is a characteristic and natural, you might think otherwise then voice your opinion respecfully or come find me and talk to me

Sometimes the best coach can't get a player motivated or excited about the game.

It has to come from the players themselves.

Nothing wrong with looking for quality players.

The boy (Tanner) is done with soccer now.  His team folded, his knee has been giving him issues, he got a girlfriend, he graduates in a few months....otherwise doing good.

DD could use some more training tho.   ;D

I coached a team through U-12.  We had a girl who loved and breathed defense.  We would mix up players and put her upfront.  Next thing you know she was in a full sprint back to sweeper.  Nothing you could do to keep her anywhere but in the back.  Still plays and in my opinion may be the best 93 defenders in the county.

Ok i will have to bite on this one :o the development of the kids true but you can find kids such as he is looking for that may be more develop then you think ,from experience i have a 9 year old playing up on u11 and is by far the best player on the field .She plays mid and can see and read the field like none other ,knows were every one is at, and were they should be  AND KNOWS HER POSITION, and knew that when she was 8 So i ask my self ,how did she learn how to do this? Does she have talent? did she watch her big sister on the side line for years ?  Did she or does she have a good coach? yes to all above, are there things she is still learning yes shes now 10. So there is nothing wrong with him asking for good forwards to step up, if my girl was a boy i would say here is a midfilder ,i have seen him coach ,and i like his style. So you cant tell me its always about the development of the child, yes a big part of it, but there are some that are a little farther along  then you think if you know what i mean.  :drinks:
