I keep hearing that the younger ages at the Timbers will pull from PDL and play in Oregon.
Curious on truth to this one???
The club won't even say!

Hear of a few select teams heading over to play in Oregon pulling out of district 5 leauge.

Few teams SAVED due to new coaches coming over.
A select coach moved to premier creating hoop-lah chatter.

Seems like all the stuff I have been hearing are all for the positive. BUT until it is set in stone and final I consider it all rumors!

Curious on truth to this one??? that's interesting  - how young? U11's, U12's?  I think that would attract even more interest from the locals
The club won't even say!

Hear of a few select teams heading over to play in Oregon pulling out of district 5 leauge. for U11's, I've only heard that Ice-Connell is planning on this, haven't heard any other teams yet... IMO, D5 just doesn't offer the variety of competition, wish more select teams would make the shift to Oregon

A select coach moved to premier creating hoop-lah chatter. no need to name names but time to commit already  8)

I heard the new DOC for WSA/FCV Gary Osterhage is planning on coaching next years U14 Gunners.  Trying to keep the best players in Clark Co in town.  What's the word on this guy?

It will be interesting to see how many more Couve' girls head to Oregon teams. There seems to be quite a few from the U-15 ranks already heading over.

Seems like the guy is kind of an "underachiever" to me!!   :o ;D

I've not met him face-to-face but have spoken to him at length on the phone and via email about several local soccer issues.  He seems very well informed and open to including other clubs in his discussions.  I was very impressed.  I think he is going to be good for WSA...and good for youth soccer in SW Washington!!  Kudos to WSA on hiring him!!   :drinks:

That guy is awesome, has great credentials and well, is a terrific teacher. I have not heard this exact rumor, but if it is true, they are a lucky group of boys.

I copied his credentials over, but now I see you have already done that twone.  ;D He has helped run a couple of my DD's practices, I have seen him run clinics, and been in some coaches clinics he has run. He knows his stuff, loves kids, loves soccer and works you like a dog in a coaching clinic!  :o

Did I mention that I have been very impressed by him?  :P ;D :drinks:

I havn't heard this either, but it does make perfect sense. At the younger ages Gunners are by far the best boys team they have and currently the only one between u11-u16 that is definatly the best in vancouver, so it makes sense that he would want to make sure it stays that way.

All I heard was for the U11's - U13's, but I would assume it would be up to the coach in the end?

Hear of a few select teams heading over to play in Oregon pulling out of district 5 leauge. for U11's, I've only heard that Ice-Connell is planning on this, haven't heard any other teams yet... IMO, D5 just doesn't offer the variety of competition, wish more select teams would make the shift to Oregon

Heard Connell-Ice team is still debating. But heard of another select team as well.

Few teams SAVED due to new coaches coming over.
This one was a boys team at premier. Heard so many players were going to leave team, then they got a new coach to keep the team together. At least the club finally took notice to the angry parents on this one!

A select coach moved to premier creating hoop-lah chatter. no need to name names but time to commit already  8)

Person I am thinking of, "he" has already committed  ;)

GOOD LUCK to Richard Gooch  on his time off adventure & for a job well done with the FCV Gunner boys! Too bad he is taking time off (but well needed), hopefully it is not too long so someone can nab him up down the road to head up a team again!

Curious on truth to this one???
The club won't even say! I have heard this every year, and NO i don't have an exact answer. But I can say I havn't heard any of the coaches talking about it so far. I have a hard time believing it though. They used to do this and were doing it even when the PDL started but made a club decision to send teams to the PDL. Plus it makes it harder to have teams in the top division if you come to the party late.
Hear of a few select teams heading over to play in Oregon pulling out of district 5 leauge. That is no surprise there are some age groups that lack in depth of talent.
Few teams SAVED due to new coaches coming over. probably

Oregon has been threatening to have their own version of the PDL. How close are they ? I actually like playing in Oregon as long as it's in the top couple levels. Good competition, close to home, no overnighters (unless you get to go to Bend and spend a week at Black Butte  ;D )

Last time I looked at what they were proposing it sounded good, but they were really far away from making it happen. Part of the problem is that without buy in from the Vancouver area, it's not much different from what they already have set up. So a lot of the existing teams don't see the point.

Haven't heard much since the start of last season though, so maybe they haven't something better in the works now.

Does anyone have the scoops on the Timber's boys u14 squad next year.  First I heard Dave Hughes was going to skipper the team then an insider said that he couldn't make that commitment,  something about helping out with his son's team?? :-\

Will the Couve' look like this next year?

Salmon Creek: Rec, Select, Premier
WSA: Rec and Select (Camas) Premier (FCV)
Timbers Rec and Select (VUSA) Premier (Timbers)
Chinook: Select
Tri Mountain: Select

Salmon Creek: Rec, Select (Chinook), Premier
WSA: Rec and Select (Camas) Premier (FCV)
Timbers Rec and Select (VUSA/Tri Mountain) Premier (Timbers)

No, I have no inside info, just a wild guess, and it all makes sense somehow.

Is FCSC on it's way out?  whats happening with next years BU16's (tryouts are over, will there still be a team) and will there be a BU13 team?

[/quote]

IMO next years GU15/BU15 (FCSC) will continue to be solid - if FCSC can hold them together.

I heard from a bu15 player that the fcsc u15 (would be now u16) team has fallen apart ??? He is a pretty reliable source, as he was a part of the team and has now moved to another local club. Are the struggles with fcsc we're hearing about true or exaggerated?

hmmm,, I'll not say anything derogatory, but after 2 years at FCSC we did leave mid-season. And not because of the coaches or most of the parents.

With CPSC having a pretty dynamic guy like Sunny, and the new DOC over at VSA, FCSC will have to adapt and present themselves as a vibrant, growing, concerned club if they want to attract talent. It's higher up in the organization that the vision for the club needs a little tweaking.

What age and gender are we talking about?? Which team stayed together because of new coaching?
