Setting the record straight
« on: March 09, 2006, 08:13:04 PM »

I've seen posts on other sites about my ties or Crossfire bias.

So people know, I do coach for Crossfire. My name is Jason Harnasch. I have coached within the club for about 4 years now. My reasons for starting the site were personal and had nothing to do with Crossfire.

In fact I started the site out of frustration with the clubs lack of recognition they gave to their players. I started it without the clubs knowledge, and honestly it's none of their business. I stand firm on this not being about Crossfire nor will it ever be about them.

Just as most coaches have other jobs. The site was my hobby and other job at the start. I've always stated on this site that any club, team, parent, player, or coach can submit a story. That is the policy and always will be.

It's funny I see posts talking about how this site is pro-Crossfire. That is absolutely not the truth, in fact I make a point of never doing anything for one club that I would not do for another.

There was a point this spring, I almost left the club. Some of it was based on having this site. Some had to do with changes in my life. Going thru a divorce, being removed from both of the teams I coached the previous seasons at Crossfire. Having the player I personal train leave the club, partly on my recommendation of what was best for them. The point people miss is it's never been about the club to me. It's 100% about the players. Life is too short to think one club is bigger than the game.

I will probably get a phone call from the club about this post, but you know what?¿? This is reality, and people that know me in real life understand a few things. I'm blunt, honest, in your face...what you see is what you get. If I don't like you, you'll know it. I personally wouldn't waste the 35¢ on the call.

I don't like people spreading rumors this is a Crossfire site, it's much larger than them. So I'm squashing that rumor today. This site is simply WPS Soccer, it's for the players that love the game of soccer. I never attached my name to ownership, bcause i DON'T own it. The players who make the game of soccer fun in Washington do, as well as their parents. This site is about them...period

So to all of you people who continue to talk trash about this site, I see you as people who do not like kids or truly love the game of soccer. This site is and always will be about every club, every kid, and everyone who loves the game.

The secrets out...now for the naysayers. Feel free to trash me....I enjoy it. To those who have made the site your home...I'm glad you have. The site will only grow in the coming years, and become more and more a place to meet other players, parents, and people who truly love the game of soccer. The ones that understand the importance of the game, and understand it's bigger than a team or club.

I'm most proud of all the younger players who have met each other, supported each others teams, and become friends. It's made having the site 100% worth while.

Sqaush at no time what so ever did I ever think this was a Crossfire site.  In fact, this site has been about the players and all teams.

WPS has grown faster then anyone including you thought.  It has always been positive and we have all had our laughs.  It's a place to come to and read posts about teams and players that I never get to see play.

I log on now everyday to post and gather information.  This site has given me an avenue to teams for my dd that I didn't get a year ago.  Some lucky team is going to get a very good player just because of this site that she never would have gone to if it weren't for a topic called "open practices and Tryouts".  So I say Thank You and I'm sure the team she chooses will say "Thank You" as well.

Squash. I still cant believe the washington state people wouldnt let you take pics on the field.  I think it has more to do with the Legacy photo peoples contract then any affiliation you might have with CF or this site.

By the way, I think Legacy photos should have stayed through the end of all the games. I am glad they took photos at all the cups, games but they didnt stay to the end of several games that went into overtime and shoot outs. The next teams team pics. could have been done anytime, or maybe assign more photographers to the games, thus you wont miss out on KFM shots at the end of a game. My goalie daughter was soooo pumped and luckily I wasnt afraid to get yelled at for sneaking up to the fence and taking her pics. Otherwise I wouldnt have a single pic of her.... I :(

As to a Crossfire bias? I  Wouldnt be here if this site only tooted the Crossfire horn... or anyone elses exclusively.. I like the variety of opinions and even the goofy singing by Edddy

I have heard your name, heard good things about your coaching and wish you luck in the future coaching and other wise.  :D

Squash, without this site me and my DD would not have met soooo many nice people that love the game as much as we do!  Your devotion to keeping it going and supporting all us crazy CP's and DD's is so appreciated by this family!

Squash

As much as I post, I enjoy this website. it is fun to read the CP perspectives and see where they are coming from. If I was down in Dist 3 I would be more involved. However, being up here in the extreme north  8)     I am limited to what I can do. Keep up the good work in bringing diversity of clubs and CPs' to this website. Also good job in bringing different coaches from different clubs here.

Jason/Squash/Soccerjustice...  Glad you finally came out of the closet.   Last week, I told my husband (you may know "Zeek") that you were one and the same but he did not believe me.  (I love being RIGHT, thank you!).  You may think yourself straight forward and unbiased, but I'm here to tell you that your "expert opinions" have a definite bias.  Nonetheless, I'm not trying to trash you or this site (as my last post has been accused).  Ok i was a little obnoxious, but my son's team had just LOST the state cup final and i really didn't want to hear about magicians or gods.  That's just plain silly.  I am not the parent of a BU17 player.

Taxidriver;  "goofy singing?"  Poetic genius or sheer brilliance, you meant to say,  I'll forgive you even though your bias lies with EFC. ;)

Squash,  thank you for inviting me to this site;  I laugh and laugh most of the time,  and learn a great deal from the "serious dialogue" too.  Really it has something for everyone and that is why it is so special, the young and the old, male and female.    You're right it will only increase as time goes by.  I come to this site every day and then some. It puts SSP to shame, and I know you respect their work and site, so do I, but SSP can be very monotonous and redundant at times. But comparing SSP to WPS is like comparing apples to oranges.

And what in the world happened to VMS?  Did he and BJ have a duel or something, and VMS lost.   Is his son playing for Crossfire now and all is forgiven? It's two days and change before the big game, the grand finale, yet nary a word from him,  occasionally old babefabulous toots her horn which is just not the same. Did Babefabulous cut him off of something, is he in the Babefabulous doghouse?  Too bad, I hope she lets him out in time for the game on Saturday.   ;)  ;)  ;)

DayZ, there was no coming out of the closet. The bottemline is this. Ignorant people always draw lines and connect dots by association. Based on that and not wanting Ignorant people to believe this was a Crossfire site, including the club themselves I've kept my identity silent.

I'm not a person who wants credit for things. I leave that to people like yourself, the master detective to thump their own chest. By the way, congrats on making yourself feel good. I commend you on your brilliance.

Oh and since you've yet to submit an article you'll have to live with the gods and magicians. I'm not sure there is room, you have a whole lot of self in your post.  8)

Squash,

I too want to thank you for this site.  It has been creating a true "soccer community". One where you get to know the posters, players, and teams.  With knowledge and familiararity comes respect, something sadly lacking in the other sites that serve our area.  We all owe you a great deal of gratitude for doing what you have done.

I look forward to spending years and years on here, and at the fields with all the new friends I have met and will meet because of your efforts.

Well done!

Crossfire bias????   I don't think so.

The only bias I sense is whatever's on the minds of the people posting.  More often than not, it's an ANTI-Crossfire bias.

Good of you to come out with your name, although most folks already knew.

thanks for the site; we like it !

Crossfire bias I would say not.  I am sure if polled there are more non-Crossfire than Crossfire on this site.  More than not I come here because of some of the relationships that have formed and the fact that we can all seem to discuss the game whether we agree or disagree and it never seems to get ugly (ok, maybe once or twice.), but even then there always seems to be a mutual respect for opinions.

Squash, what you have given to the kids on this site is AWESOME.  I only wish people could pull their heads out of that dark hole down south and see that.  The game isn't about you, me or those naysayers, but about the kids, and what you are giving them is worth continuing.  You have our support- KEEP UP THE GREAT JOB!!!!

When I first started coming to this site (and every so often after that), I always thought that Squash was a parent from Snohomish. He would talk about that club a lot.

So much for my thinking

I have said it before and I'll say it again...........
THANKS Squash for making this site for the players.
I don't care if you are affiliated with EVERY team or NONE,this site is WONDERFUL. The friendships made, the information received, the whole attitude on here, is welcoming.
The first thing I do in the morning is grab coffee and turn into WPS. Everything after that is boring!   :D
You have given our kids someplace safe to go to in the soccer community that isn't all about one team or club. Coming from a smaller club, I appreciate that.
Don't let the naysayers pull you down with them. They are just jealous that they can't come close to having what you have here on WPS...... a soccer FAMILY!

I am not sure why you feel the need to defend yourself   Squash. This is anything but a PRO-Xfire site. WPS is what it is...a general site for people to discuss/argue/scream about issues they are passionate about. It is obvious from Eddy to Madman to myself  that opinions vary greatly . That's the beauty of this site. The banter may bug some but in general I think that passionate people are the ones who post the most and they keep this site alive. Yes, the site is about the kids no doubt;but it has become so much more than that. Anyway, thanks for allowing it to be a more liberal site than most.
And the reason why I have not been posting is that I have been recuperating from being kneecapped by an irate Xfire fan  ;)

Oh and I still believe that all 4 EFC teams(BU14 Red/White,GU14Red and BU15 Red) will win this weekend!
GO EFC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
