It's too late.   Pretty soon we are going to have to be using wheel barrows to cart our ObamaBucks down to the grocery store to buy a load of bread.

I wish it were cheap.  The land that I own right now is 8 acres of high density multi-residential.    I still owe more than a million bucks on that 8 acres.

However, I have recieved some interest in buying my operation.  If I do sell out - after paying off the mortgages - I am looking at flipping the profits into irrigated farmland (t $5,000 or so an acre) and dryland wheat farm land ( at $400-500 per acre).   If I can find some along the Snake River, I would love to jump on that.   Also, there are opportunities up in the North and in the Dayton to Oregon area to buy land on or near lakes and streams adjacent to national forests.   Sounds like great opportunities to have a summer place or a retirement cabin......

Although for retirement, I hear great things about Belize and Costa Rica.

Already that story.  Way overblown headline.   But it has the essence of the truth.

Let's go back to George Soros.
Soros is the greatest currency speculator and maniputor of all time.  He was the guy who broke the bank the bank of England.   When asked if he had made a billion dollars in doing so he relpied"Oh yes, early on".   Before his raid on the British pound - remember when the dollar and pound were equal in value? - he had raided the Thai Baht and the Turkish Lirae (?).   For a while it has been apparent that he has been after the US dollar.   He has spent considerable sums - up to and perhaps more than half a billion dollars - to fund a political situaion that causes the dollar to collapse.  Wall Street now knows - at least some there -  that he is machinating against the dollar.

It will be interesting to see how low the dollar goes.   The question that I have is Soros after this to become the richest man in the world, or is he after this be able to crush those have not "accorded him proper respect" in the economics world?

In anycase, writing my congressman will do no good.  He is already doing the right things and voting the right way.   My Senators are owned by Seattle special interests.    They would vote for the surrender of Americar to anyone, if they were at war with us.  Soros and his groups invested in both Senators, and that counts more than my opinion.

a poem:
perhaps i am biased
but it seems so proper
for the world's currency
to be based on the usa dollar
usa, world's most:
productive nation
generous nation
free nation

I wrote my Senator about the healthcare bills and pending votes voicing my concerns.  I got a very quick reply and actually had a little "note" at the bottom asking about Lake Tapps and it's resolution.  Very clever.  However, some of the data in the email was old so I replied to it further debating this issue.  What do I get back?  The same @#$@#$ email I got the first time!  No changes!  My reply to that one.  4 words.....YOU LOST MY VOTE.  No reply.

What's disturbing is more American's are speaking out than ever before but it appears it's falling on deaf ears to our government officials and White House.  We speak with our vote every election year.  This could be a very short run for the current administration if they don't start listening, and acting on, what the American people are saying.

Email, call or write your elected officials everyday!  Let them know what your thinking.  If you do that then you can at least sleep at night knowing you've done your part to inact change.  If your still pissed.....vote them out of office come election day.

Interesting, why assume that they are not listening to the American people because they aren't doing what YOU want?

This has nothing to do with what I want.  It has to do with actually responding to my inquiry with the correct information.  Not some canned email that is sent each time you put a certain topic in the subject line.  And on the not listening note, all you have to do is look at all the polls (and the declining percentages of happy voters) to realize that our elected officials are more interested in passing legislation than getting the legislation correct.  Healthcare is a perfect example.  The people of America are saying slow down, review the information being put in front of you, and then vote based on reviewing the facts and debating the issues.  Not call for a vote at 3 am on a 1000 + page document that no one has had time to review.

Sorry, I was questioning Huskydawg's apparent assumption that the American people all must agree with his viewpoint. I mean, maybe more people want something contrary to what Huskydawg wants and the politicos are doing what they want......

Just a thought on the form of the argument being made.

Just for argument's sake, maybe someone did read it and put you in the dope-ass fringe file who all receive the same email. I will say that if the politician can't do better than that given today's technology -- even where dope-ass fringe constituents are concerned, he doesn't deserve to be in office.

Disclaimer -- I do not know HuskyDawg and have no information to indicate that he or she has, is or will be part of the "dopeass fringe." In fact, he or she could be part of the vast majority, which, in certain years is good and, in other years, bad.  :drinks:

Re Healthcare -- is it the American people, or the insurance companies that are saying slow down? Follow the money........ :drinks:

Sorry, 30 or so years of ideological driven deregulation to benefit large corporations and financial institutions and the ensuing collapse may have made the switch inevitable. I'm not so certain that your congressman can help.

It's interesting that you go to name calling right away.  It was my impression that our Senators want to hear from us and they want to offer up their views and how they are representing us.  My only reason for bringing it up was (it's the subject line for this section) to point out that by me sending them my concerns I got back an email that was significantly dated in the material that they sent.  When I questioned that I get it again.  I didn't make any comment about whether I like or don't like the way this Senator was leaning.  My vote was lost when the people reading the message disregarded the fact that I had already received said message and that the second response was inappropriate due to it being a duplication of the first.  As I said before, we all get to vote based on how we feel our elected officials represent our needs.  If we don't like the way it's going,  we vote against them.  If we're happy, we tend to vote for the incumbants because our life is going ok.

Make no mistake about what's happening in Washington DC right now.  All of us are going to pay more.  period.  You may or may not get more benefit based on your individual financial situation but regardless of your finances your going to pay more......for everything.  Watch out for the Cobra in the room  ;)

Fair enough.

The people answering the email were probably volunteers. The boss and staff were probably too busy attending fund raising events to supervise.......

And, did you not read the Disclaimer? I said I didn't know if you were part of the dope-ass fringe or not. Or was the possibility of being labeled part of the majority the name calling you are referring to? A little levity..........for argument's sake.

I mean, I'm more likely part of the dope-ass fringe than anyone.  :drinks:

Leftie, the worst deregulation and thw worst regulation was driven by the lefties Democrats, not the Republicans.  Their sins are manifold and widespread, but it was the Dems who mandated cheap loans and ready approval to areas that had been statistically blacklisted in the past.  It was the Dems that opened up the Derivatives trade.   It was the Dems who put the Clintonistas in charge of Fannie and Sallie, the people who took tens upon tens of millions each in compensation while running the government backed institutions into the ground.  (More bailouts!).  So do not even try to blame this mess solely upon Republican Deregulation.   You have to know better.

Sorry, 30 or so years of ideological driven deregulation to benefit large corporations and financial institutions and the ensuing collapse may have made the switch inevitable. I'm not so certain that your congressman can help.

You should go back and read the cases on your so called cheap loans in black listed areas. When you actually do, this piece of the argument looks exactly like the red herring it is.

However, I do agree that there is plenty of blame to go around to both parties. What you are stuck with is the fact that the alarm bells started to go off on Bush's watch but he (or maybe it was Cheney who was really in charge) and his advisers were so ideologically driven to eschew regulation that they watched the economy burn. And then became what -- socialists? Marxists? at the end. Actually kinda' funny in a really dark way.

In my mind, the real issue is campaign finance reform. This affects both parties. Multi-national corporations with financial resources larger than the GNPs of many countries, and interests contrary to those of the US, are way too powerful in setting the political agenda in the US.

One major disappointment thus far is absolutely no discussion about this issue.
