Although we played a better 2nd half, Houston deserved the win. Nice year Sounders.... Nice year

I like zakuani. He works hard and will come back on defense. Two things he needs to improve.  First he needs to stop going to the outside on every 1-1. He's too darn predictable. WAtch Aaron Lennon and work on the same dip the shoulder move he has that always wrong foots the defender. When you have pace you don't need really fancy moves. Just something simple to slightly cause a defender to shift their weight. Second thing zak needs to work on is his shot or leg strength. He doesn't put enough pace on either his shots or his crosses.

I thought Jaqua played his best game last night. Maybe he's better suited to midfield where he can get the ball face up and use his long frame to cut down passing lanes. His 1st touch as a forward has always been suspect and he doesn't operate well in close quarters. I'm ok with him at outside mf but we can't start 2 freddies at forward.

Hmmm...Zakuani reminds me more of Theo Walcott. Pure pace ,like an unbridled horse ,just running down the side. He def needs to work on his skill set though as he is VERY predictable but gets away with it cuz its the MLS. He would NOT get away with it in Europe! Id say that he needs to add some moves to his game and THEN he will be an Aaron Lennon type player. But I would not agree that he works hard all the time especially on the defensive end. Sigi has had to ride him all year to increase his work rate. When he actually plays hard all 90, he will be a good one!!

And I agree with Squash. JAcqua is NO way suited for midfield. He will be forever a center forward. I see him as a reserve next year if we get Juan Pablo Angel from RedBulls.

And Ljunberg should NEVER play as a forward. He needs the ball going forward into space. His role is to be a playmaker. He is not a great scorer. When he has been up front his touches have been limited and the team suffered as a result.

All in all though, a great season Sounders!! A few additions on the offensive side and this team will be a contender again next year!! This team needs another forward, winger and center mid that have offensive skills!!

First off, I thought the referee was totally under control the entire game.  I had no issues with him and he should get additional playoff games as they go forward.

Impressed with Keller all game as he was under direct contact much of the game, he stays so calm and makes all of the plays.  Disappointed with Alonzo as he could have been the key to the transition from defense to the midfield, but we had little of that.  Freddie Montero flopeed more ways than one today.  His shots were from terrible angles to near post.  Jacqua was plodding in the midfield.  Ljundberg impresses me more as he plays.  Roger that play on the goal in your box was disastrous.  Love Riley.  Good job to the Sounders.  Great year, make some moves this year and better than ever next year.

I will make another post later talking about how much I love the sounders and how well they did today.  This post will be about:

1)  Was there something so wrong with the pitch today that all the Sounders passes were off?   It was clearly not even close to the quality of the ground that the Sounders practice on, even seeing it from TV.  Would the sounders have been better prepared from practicing on a field of a local mddle school team?

2)  Zahkuani showed tonight why the criitcism of him has been warranted.

3)  It is tough to criticise a defense that gave up a single goal in 210 minutes.  But their passes out of the back tonight were mostly woeful.

4)  Nyasssi?   He came on late, but he looked like to be a real find early int he season.   What went wrong with him this year?

5)  The goal scored against us was our own screwup.  Levesque or however you spell his name has done some good things, this time he screwed up.

6)  Freddy the Oscar aspirant needs to learn that there are other target areas besides near post.

7)  210 minutes and not being able to score a goal?   No goals from Free Kicks this entire year?    Come on guys, you must do better!

8)  Keller was solid, as always.   We need better flank play from our fullbacks.

I actually thought Nyassi looked okay in his limited time today. I'd agree the balls out of the back had little or no intent to them. Agree.... Lazyflop had a few chances and hit them all near post which was clearly covered everytime. We could have used that almost own goal.  ;D
