BU 14 WHITE V ISSAQUAH SELECT IN THE CHALLENGE CUP:

Issaquah Select 4 EFC White 0

BU14 RED V FCUNITED IN THE CHAMPIONSHIP CUP

EFC Red '91 2 FC United 1

Very exciting game!  Wasn't pretty - but a lot of fun to watch.  Very physical, lots of cards and hard fought.  EFC mugged in the penalty area on a break away, NO penalty - WHAT?  FCUnited scores on a free kick - did the ball cross the line???  Very questionable!!!  Poor officiating in my opinion - very poor.  In less than 10 minutes to go, the stalling started and FC United did their best to tick the clock down for the win.  EFC finally got the ball away and up the field on a break away and on a goalie error received a corner kick.  With the crowd on their feet and the ball squirting around in front of the goal EFC scores - 1-1, tie game - into overtime.  No score in OT - penalty kicks.  All kickers made their shots and on the 4th shot Brian Schwartz saves a shot by FCUnited.  EFC wins 2-1 by making the rest of their shots.

A lot of fun to watch both teams play their hearts out.

Sounds like an exciting game,  turns out I was right, keep it close and  if the game goes to shootout, EFC wins,  glad to hear that and congratulations to EFC and Co. Congrats to FC United sounds like a tough tough loss... Time for celebration but bear in mind tryouts next week, and the Dynamo are ready to roll..........

The irony of ironies,  this is the fourth year in a row the NWN Dynamo are knocked out by the eventual State champs,  maybe we really are the 2nd best team in the state............ ;)

I'd say the second best team in the state is FC United

WOW!! 2-1 in a shootout! Great W for EFC who  ran the table in Cup to get here today . While they did not bring their A game today, they brought their  characteristic heart  and soul and gutted out a tremendous victory over a tough United club. While United  may have won the battle in the trenches , EFC came a way with the win, somehow, someway.
United's #6 gave EFC fits today and it was he and not #7 who seemed to have his way, but neither found the net  despite multiple chances.United's lone goal came on a VERY controversial call at the  end of first half  on a free kick from about 30 yards that caught crossbar and squibbed to the near post and then rolled in front of the line and then past the far post and was cleared. Somehow the AR saw it as a goal :x United held that 1-0 lead until the end of regulation. United's antics of kicking the ball away after several OB calls resulted in a Yellow card for their player and more add time. EFC squared the game on a beautiful corner that kicked around in the box and was blasted in .After OT ended, the two teams went at it in shootout. The boys traded goals and then the EFC keeper guessed right and made a diving save on a well struck ball by the United middie (who by the way played a fantastic game) and EFC got the win!! :D  :D  :D
Off to Boise where EFC will face United again in the same bracket !!
I better bring my medical kit to that one ;)

I failed to logout after my post and others were using my login :D

I didn't mean to leave just a smiley.

Very tired weekend all the boys are exhausted after playing then sticking around watching the GU14 girls and the BU15 boys play - then end of the year party.

Great year for BU14 boys and look forward to next year - next weekend right?  No rest!

OOOOH Eddy,
How I wish that were true, but I don't think that the half of beer that I had at lunch with my pizza (that I didn't finish) was the reason!  Pure exhaustion on my part and someone else tag teaming on the same computer.

I would say that it has been a very fun year and the boys are beside themselves with excitement.  This team has a lot of heart and they never gave up.  To finally beat Crossfire in the semifinals and then to beat the only undefeated team this year (in Washington) was definitely an accomplishment!

Now the whole thing starts all over - no rest for the weary  :(
