Squash,
Nice recap and I would have to agree that Nico was the catalyst many times and distributed well for FC United.  It was a lot of fun to watch and look forward to going together with FC United to Regionals to represent Washington.

The only thing that should be noted was the mugging that you missed in the first minutes of the game that happened to Race in the penalty area as he had beaten the defenders and was taken down only to be called with the foul?  Will be interesting to watch on the DVD coming in the mail.

Interesting you brought that up. It was a weird call, but I also left out some of the other questionable fouls on ummm... ;)

Spidey - I wish I knew what you were referring to.  Lot's of fouls both ways, thought that EFC were called for MORE than their share.

Great summary Squash. I agree that #10 United was the player of the game. He was on every ball in midfield! But I think the stars of the game were the EFC defense who shut down the vaunted United offense. They bent but did not break. And the keeper was outstanding!! 2 goals in 6 games in Cup play. Offense wins games, defense wins championships!!

Squash, re:FOULS. The game from my obviously biased eye seemed one-sided ,ie, United got the majority of calls. EFC's fouls were in plain sight and out of frustration, no doubt.I give FCU credit as I think they have been well-coached in the subtle art of shirt grabbing and flopping. And I mean that as a compliment and not derogatory. There is talent in doing this in or out of the ref's view as needed. Two of their boys were absolute masters!! It will be interesting to see how these two teams play each other as they get bigger and stronger.I may have to buy    a sideline ice machine!

I didn't comment on fouls because, they tend to be seen as negatives. I understand they are part of the game, and good teams foul their fair share.

Squash,  enjoyed the BU 14 Championship game article.  I heard EFC scored in the last minutes,  but by your summary it appears EFC scored in the last seconds to get the equalizer.   The EFC team and fans must have gone crazy with excitement, conversely the bubble must have really burst for FC United side.  Sometimes it seems fate is what it is and the Soccer gods whatever you want to called them were with EFC for the 2006 State Cup.  Taking nothing from them because the saying " I'd rather be lucky, than good" really hits home at times for everybody.  I wish I could have been there,  I would have loved to have seen it.   I knew if it got to something close or shootout the EFC keeper would come up big.  The shot he stopped 1st half (just got a hand and deflected it) at our QF game was a great save,  you didn't have the angle and I did, wicked shot and great save,  anyway very happy for he and his dad,  great people.......

But remember Dynamo and EFC split the season with 2 wins each,  I can't wait to beat them next time we play,  I'm really looking forward to that.

Eddy, rumor has it that there will be a big shift of boys from ECFC to Dynamo? Is that right? A complimentary striker to #17 will certainly help you guys.

VMS;  yes I have heard the rumors too.  I won't believe anything until I see it,  I think everyone is waiting to see as well.  The Dynamo really need some additions here and there, but all teams adjust every year, nature of the beast.......

By the way thank you for your gracious compliments yesterday concerning my son,  he is an asset to any team in spite of his father.  ;)  See you on the pitch......remember I won't be nice any more once the teams are settled.......the Dynamo want a piece of Eastside real bad.....

Funny thing is , there would not have been added stoppage time had one of the United boys not booted the ball OB...twice...earning himself a Yellow card for unsportsmanlike conduct and slowing down the game to retrieve a ball. Not a wise move by the youngster
