Lefty,
They have basically superimposed the PDL onto the state leagues, given the PDL-LC control over the state leagues, and mandated some the USSF's rumored best practices for younger kids.
I would have thought that you would be cheering for it.
U forgot the part about totally and completely destroying any incentive for the RCL clubs to innovate, keep prices down and provide services efficiently now that the state has killed the marketplace by out and out designating certain clubs as preferred providers.
Wait, maybe they kept that part out of the Proposal.
My bad!
Is there any other system like this in the U.S.?
I seriously don't see where you get that EW. There is a huge difference between 1) allowing some clubs to form a league, which any group of clubs could do and/or allowing any club who wants to get in the "I'm a premier club" mix whatever league they play in and 2) Annointing whatever group of clubs are at the top of the marketplace at some particular time as the Premier clubs in the state, and erecting huge barriers of entry into that state org anointed few.
Imagine that I and 20 of my best friends all run Youth Soccer Crack Dispenseries selling very high quality youth soccer crack to parents. We get together and decide to form the Federated Youth Sports Crack League with a common marketing campaign and the state says its ok because anyone else can do it and it's not stifling competition. No biggee in my book. Now suppose that the state steps in and says that the Federated Youth Sports Crack league is now the premier group of soccer crack dealers and anyone who wants into the newly minted state designated cartel can only join if the cartel members say they can - lol. Further more, let us say that the state's official policy is that, while you may get your Youth Soccer Crack at other locations, it's inferior crack unless you get it from the state sponsored crack dealers. WTF - you've just killed every incentive to keep costs down or continue to give better and better service. The new Youth Soccer Crack Cartel will quickly start cutting their product and increasing costs. You will start seeing CPs on the street corners begging "Need Soccer Crack, Please Help God bless" because prices are so high and they just have to have the BEST soccer crack with the WSYSA seal of approval on it.
I imagine that the WYSA vetted this whole thing with the USYSA or whatever national org before implementing it. If not, it would seem to be 10X worse than just allowing some clubs to form a league and allowing other clubs to do the same. You are correct EW. The monied interests have now gained control of the lucrative end of youth soccer in this state in obvious collusion at the state level. I hope everyone who had a problem with the state allowing clubs to form leagues and put pressure on the state to halt a practice that goes on nationwide is happy now.
AND another thing. Anybody else find it odd that the proposal says that this is all being done by the state to promote the development of the individual player and not a team or club but then they pick the clubs that have had the most team and club success in terms of wins and losses. Absolutely laughable.
