If anything, I would say that conservatives and libertarians are the ones on their way back.  The Republicans, as a brand name, are still pretty damaged, in my opinion.

This latest win - I am calling the Senate seat in the People's Republic of Taxachussetts for Scott Brown - by the Republicans coupled with the loss in the NY house seat had better show the party the way forward.  Otherwise, just merge with the Dems.

Oh, perhaps now we can start pressing for ethics and justice department investigations of the tax cheats in Congress and the executive branch.
Barney Frank and Senator Dud for their sweatheart deals with banks and all the bank contributions to their campaigns while they were giving banks special treatment, Charley "I did not know abou the villa in the Caribbean that I owned for 20 years" wrangle, Timmy "Tax Cheat Geitner", that Marxist Congresswoman from California which had special government moeny sent to the bank she was connected to, the US (Rep) Senator who may have been using official monies to pay off his misstress, and that Senator (Dem) from Montana? that tried to get his mistress a cushy job as an US Attorney.   Let the investigations begin!   The Dems went after Dick Army on a tax-campaign law dodge, so let's serve it up to them!

EW, I agree with you in Mass where the Democrat coasted for a few weeks during Christmas and assumed it was locked up while the Republican worked his butt off. She got what she deserved since she did not work hard, assumed that a liberal state would automatically vote for her, went after the Republican for insignificant and trivial stuff, and acted like an annointed one. However, the idea that now the most pressing areas of our country are investigations is a little silly. Geithner is an idiot, a cheat, and should not be investigated but charged and convicted that I would agree. He makes me long for Bush's economic advisor which is saying something. However, the rest can wait as they can't do as much damage as Geithner can.

Two occupations, health care, an economy that is not coming out of the doldrums contrary to what Wall Street is doing, and a host of other issues are much more important.

As a conservative/libertarian, cleaning up the government, getting rid of the crooks and the cheats, is more important to me than the government doing anything else right now.
Heck, I tonight had a concersation with another small business owner.  He was all for confusion and congress not being able to act.  I responded that we should pay every Congressman a million dollars if they would not take any action this year.  He laughed and pointed out that such a policy would be vastly cheaper for the country.

Nationalized Health Care?   Bad idea.   Mandatory Health Insurance?  Bad idea.   Slashing medicare now to pay for nationalized medicine a few years from now?  Bad Idea.  Accounting Tricks to pretend the proposals are revenue neutral?  Bad Idea.   If you, the Dems, or anyone else can come up with an idea to reduce costs of medical care, make it affordably available to everyone, and protect everyone's ability to maintain their own plans (Like Congress has done for itself) then I am all for it.  Show me.

The current proposal is one of the most corrupt, inept, inefficiencent, dishonest pieces of legislation to ever come down the pike.

Jobs?  If government wants to create jobs, reduce taxes and reduce bad regulations.  Reduce Government.

The "stimulus" package was just a giant pork barrell.  Another will be the same, it will not create more jobs except in government, and the debt payments that the country will have to pay will far exceed the economic benefits.

Would just like to make the observation that political parties do NOT define the values and philosophies of their supporters, but it is the supporters that define the values and philosophies of political parties. Party names, in reality, are just names. And while the GOP has certainly slid to the left in pursuit of a belief that acting more like Kennedy Democrats will win elections, the Democrat Party has moved so far left that its core philosophies of collectivism and socialism have turned it into something unrecognizable by the standards this country has considered major political party material.

What is about to happen to both parties is a shift to the right. The Republican Party is shifting more to its conservative tradition, and yes, the Democrat Party will eventually break away from the radicals in the WH and move towards a socially liberal, but fiscally more conservative stance that embraces freedom and liberty and fights with Americans against this assault on our most basic beliefs and traditions.

The real danger now is that Marxist/Socialist radicals still control the White House and are not about to give up on their "Progressive" plans for fundamentally transforming America. They've been working on it for 100 years, but now that Americans are finally understanding their plan, Progressives know that if they can be defeated, they will have to start over to fundamentally transform America into another socialist country run by a massive centralized government.

As Democrats concerned about reelection and respecting the views of the majority turn on Obama and the WH, Obama will exercise more un-Constitutional Executive Branch bullying, threats and Chicago-style personal attacks on fellow Democrats to press his big government Marxist collective agenda. He's still got 3 years to achieve his goals.

Scott Brown's election to the "Kennedy seat" is a tremendous sign that even far-left voters in Massachusetts are waking up and getting it. The real battle now will come to the Legislative Branch where extreme leftists like Nancy Pelosi and Barney Frank still control the levers of power. The battle for America now simply shifts a bit to the ability of Republicans to find patriotic Democrats to take on Obama, Democrat Party leaders, and the Alinsky Media that is giving them cover in everything they do. And even with those allies, getting Congress to stand up to the Executive Branch is going to be difficult until the current leftist leaders of the Democrat majorities are booted out of those positions.

New Jersey and Virgina were the first victories for our Constitutional Republic. Brown's victory was another huge victory in just the next battle. Now Americans need to find and support Democrats in office who support free markets, capitalism, and the liberty that these radicals still want to destroy. Hopefully they're out there. Without their help, this war against progressivism is far from over.

Just as I have always suspected - too much politics in soccer!!!  You folks are contributing to why soccer does not reach wide spread acceptance in this Country - too many interferring parents with politics on their minds.  Sport is suppose to be free from political agendas, where athletes compete on talent alone, not where "well intentioned" parents continually try to influence playing time, play stategies and team selections.

Here is a novel idea, just enjoy the talent your child posses at this point in life and be happy that they have decided to have a constructive outlet of their energies!!

Wow a couple of elections and the whole world is turning. I did not hear this much crowing after the revolution of 94 and look how that turned out. While I do agree with much of the assessment of why Coakly lost and do think that the Democrats overreached in some areas this is not turning the whole country around. She was a horrible candidate with an arrogance that even irritated me. Her unwillingness to mix with the average voter, lack of work ethic, cliche ridden campaign had something to do with her loss. Yes this was also partially attributable to a very good Republican candidate but a large shift in the country. Not yet.

Sen. Mitch McConnell  of Kentucky, the top Senate Republican, said: "For too long, some in this country have been deprived of full participation in the political process. Our democracy depends upon free speech, not just for some but for all corporations. It is a major victory for big oil, Wall Street banks, health insurance companies  and the other powerful interests that marshal their power every day in Washington to drown out the voices of everyday Americans,".

Halliburton Cheney is very happy. Exxon-Enron Bush was not available for comment.

See this is the problem you think it is about democrats and republicans- Republicans did not win MA and they better remember that- this is simply the people stating they dont like what the left is doing, so they are voting more for the right, but it does not mean they like the republicans only they just like their country more center. 51 percent of MA are independents

The irony about the complaint about the supreme court is that when Obama and many other democrats where running in this last election, funding by corporations or organizations was okay as long as they got elected. Now they are elected and suddenly they think life is not fair. So I guess this means starbucks, amazon, microsoft and costco better not give a dime to the left because they dont want it.
