no.  there is still quite a size difference in 13 year olds and 14 year olds.  they start to even out at u16-u17.  our u14 plays well against our u15 but can't beat them. we've only played our u13 once.  think of these kids being on the exponential curve  and clubs that have the top kids in their age group , this does apply.  now top u13 teams could beat lower level u14 teams without a problem and they have been for years.  occasionally teams come along that have good, large, fast girls and they can play up well with the top dogs of the year older.  I would hate to think that our girls don't learn much tactical soccer going from u13 to u14, when in reality, they learn a lot.  and as an aside, I think our u13 beat your u13 this past week but these two teams play pretty even as do the 95s, so i don't think your 96s could beat your 95s. i think the 95s would school them.  now in about 2-3 years, that could easily be reversed.

This will change from year to year. The teams a year ahead of DDs team had much parity caused by the talent being spread throughout the age group. This caused a lot of close games but slightly weaker teams over all. The top year younger team could whoop the year older team(s) at the ages you mentioned -- in fact played the previous year's state champs and beat them.

Can't do it with brute athleticism though because of the size differential.  :drinks:

It would depend on the club, team, playing style. If both teams adopted a developmental attitude and expressive nature toward the game then the differences in physical ability and size can be nullified somewhat. If you are going to be playing a team which simply wants to 'kick the crap' out of you then launch the ball downfield as many times as possible, most younger teams would struggle. But play for play, the age difference is less of an issue than it is between U12-U13 in my opinion.

Good example of this would be looking at the Winter PSPL... Most of the 96's are struggling against the 95's...

This past fall Synergy played up in the u14’s and the one thing that stood out to me was SIZE.  Some of the girls towered over our girls, but I would say the skill level was about equal or maybe less.

let's hope that the difference is less than at u12-u13.  as it should get less and less as they get older, equilize in size and the tactical thinking is falling in to place.

An example of what? Difference in size or playing ability? DDs u-15 team coulda whooped her High School team any day. Just a whole different ball game skills-wise. Would have been a size and strength diff though....

I think 95xfire will come out on top - if they are at full capacity/roster.   ;D

As much as I'd like to agree, I'd have to say there's little chance of that.  I think the better question for teams is could your Girls 95 A-team beat your Girls 94 B-team, or how about your Boys 96 A-team?  Those two questions might be a little tougher to answer.

Really?  you think Xfire 96 will beat Xfire 95?

As for WPFC 95G vs 96B - we played them before and it was really exciting to see the pace pick up because those boys are freaking awesome!  The boys beat us and I'd love to see the girls play them again but as far as the girls beating them, I don't see that happening.  As for playing the G94 team - this team they currently have was scrimmaged against earlier this year maybe twice, three times, and the 95s never did beat the 94s.  Last year U13 vs U14 they did but not this year - that is something I could see as a possibility though, unlike beating the 96boys that I don't see happening (unless they play with like 6 on the field -and no keeper - yeah, then I'll give it a "maybe"   ;)  The girls 94s are pretty dang good though but I won't say never with that match up though.

Our 95 A team beats our 94 B team but we can't seem to beat the 94 A team.  we play them well though.  crossfires 96 team would not beat their 95 team.  they are pretty equal to our 96 team.  i think they trade wins with wpfc winning in their last meet up.  our 96 team would not beat our 95 team.  but give it a few more years and we'll all be splitting these games.

My mistake.  I was thinking the question was could our 95 A-team beat our 94 A-team.
