My son received a letter yesterday for U13 ODP tryouts.  So I know of at least one  :D

Fantastic!!  I think its great that they are giving the opportunity to the younger one's now too.  You must be proud. :D

EFC RED BU14 without any ODP players on the team beat Dynamo, Xfire, and United in succession  to win the State Cup.I believe each of those clubs had several ODP players. ODP is certainly a way to get individual recognition but is   politically charged.  Many of the best players never tryout for many reasons. And its obvious that the presence of these ODPers does NOT guarantee championships. Just ask Eddy 8)

Oh I realize it is not for everyone and that teams can have great players without any ODP.  I just think it is another way to recognize individual talent and to develop that talent.  It is not for everyone.  I don't know of anyone that is on ODP at the U-13 through U16 level.  However I just wanted to get an idea for the future..

I wouldn't say ODP develops talent at the State level. They only practice a small amount and play as a team for maybe 6-10 games.

ODP is a good avenue to get recognition, but the true recognition comes from making the regional team and above.

If you want to get better as a player it's simple. Practice on your own.  :mrgreen:

Absolutely :!:   Just wanted to get an idea of how many received "those" letters from around the sound....

Actually I think that having an "odp" player on the team may disrupt the "team"  Some give just don't have the maturity to handl recognition....

ODP is not to blame for certain kids' (or adults for that matter) inability to handle adversity or glory. Some stay humble and not GREEDY despite great achievements, while others never will and become ANGRY at stumbling blocks to their career.While being an ODP player may be the ENVY of many kids, no loss of PRIDE to those who don't make it nor should they be viewed as SLOTHFUL.  The presence  of ODP players on a team should NOT disrupt team chemistry, although the GLUTTONY of coaches may be an issue if they surround themselves with prima donnas...and the JEALOUSY of others may play a role as well :twisted:

odp has good intentions but bad leadership. there are some really good players selected but many more not selected. it is way too politically charged. once upon a time there was an eastside and westside odp, but that was too much work so now they only want kids on the westside of the mountains.
