X-fire select has done a lot of good for youth soccer on the EastSide, it has great volunteer coaches who put in a lot of time and effort into their teams for relatively little in return, other than the intrinsic rewards of helping out kids. X-fire is a brand that is associated with many things depending on your stance, however, if the select program has worked hard to gain a reputation with its coaching and playing abilities then why would they want to have to change that? From what i understand the X-fire board has said if the select program wishes to digress then it can use the X-fire Select name in principle. In reality it is a separate club already and services those kids who are not necessarily too weak to play premier, but those kids that are good at multi-sports who prefer to have a more 'convenient' league giving them time off when they need it. It is a great program compromise for those talented kids who wish to pursue soccer but not at the expense of their other sports or economic constraints.
