Former ECFC coach: a long history of mistrust from SYSA

Today I exchanged messages with a former Emerald City FC coach who was willing to talk about recent issues...

"One of the proposals that we gave many years ago was exactly a EC North / EC South type program and to get involved in SYSA. They never wanted ECFC involvement.  For years, SYSA has mistrusted and even perhaps hated ECFC for unknown or vague reasons. The characters have changed a lot over the years both on EC and SYSA, yet the mistrust was always there.  It is so much like a Hatfield and McCoys where no one knows where the argument even started and both sides are so fixated on keeping the argument that they fail to do what is truly best for the kids."

read the interview and there seems to be little to dispute there, it fairly matches up with what is already known.  Of course, this is told by the ECFC side and there is that slant to it (again).

I do disagree with the insistence on keeping the ECFC name.  While the author stated that the name had "degraded", it would convey little or no value and only negative connotations for the new comers that SU is trying to bring in.

I found the "I do not know why they hate us" bit both poignant and telling.    There certainly have been opportunities lost, and there continue to be.
