As a parent of a player who is weeks away from graduation (not only from high school but youth soccer too), I wanted to thank this forum and everyone for the engaging and sometimes hilarious discussions posted here. As a true blood soccer mom, I have to tell you letting go is difficult. My son will move on to college and has the opportunity to play for his school, however it is far away and I realize my days of dressing like a marshmallow to stay warm and putting weather stripping around my edges to keep out the torrential rain are now at an end. For all the discussions, frustrations and ups and downs that rec, select and premier brought to our family, my sons passion is why we stayed with it. The life lessons learned far outweigh the carpool, lousy hotel rooms and other stuff endured along the way. He has been fortunate to have great coaches and mentors and for that I am forever grateful. For those of you just beginning, let your kid lead the way, that way... they stay with it, and love it and neither you or your player will regret the sacrifices when it ends.
For those of you still in the game, I got this email (not applicable to us anymore) but you may know someone out there who might be interested. European scouts coming to Seattle in June.
