basketballdad, sounds like you are having a bad day. sorry. i guess if no one shows up to ref the game because of a misunderstanding, then you really had no choice, but your manager or your coach should have not let that slip/ i'm sure all the parents appreciated it since otherwise they would have to go home without a game at all. as far as your team, i have never seen them play.  i have seen many of the teams play that they have played, both won and lost and i'm sorry but the level of competition that your team struggles with is not in the same league as the top teams in the state in your age group and my only point was, your team does not belong in the same grouping as the top 4-6 teams in the state. no way, no how. and there is nothing wrong with that.  there are a lot of teams who aren't as strong as the top 4-6 teams in the state. and last year was last year. us club state cup did not have the competition to speak to anything. each year teams like cross and wpfc and nwn, getting stronger and stronger and the differences will get more and more pronounced.  two players missing at us club soccer regionals should not cause 4-0 losses in 3 games where your competition said it was a joke.  your team has the season in the nwcl to prove they are one of the top 4-6 teams in the state.  pspl will not do that as the top teams in the state do not play in that league.  so your team can prove it on the pitch. but come next year, i strongly foresee that your team will not be in the nwcl and one of the more competitive 96 teams will be and that should have happened this year but your doc has pulled some strings for your team which is unfortunate for a more competitive team wanting that spot.  i don't know anything about the oregon teams so maybe you can give them a game.  i have nothing against your team at all, i just get tired of listening to your team toot their horn when it is not apples and apples.

Question:  Would NWCL exist had Emerald City FC not been kicked out of WYS earlier this year?

They left WYS, they were not kicked out.  But it's a great question because what happens when the current older teams EC has are gone in a few years?

There are something like 3 ECFC teams currently in the league. In contrast, there are 15 different RCL clubs represented. I think we can safely say that the league has critical mass!

Bottom line is that the best teams in two states decided to band together and do what WYS has a long history of being incapable of doing - create an efficient, high-quality league. As far as some of the PSPL winners being "undeserving", it should remind everybody of USYS Regionals, where all those weaker teams from the smaller states (and that might include Washington) get to play because they've won inferior competitions. Any team is free to play in the PSPL, so what is the complaint?

The league just started Tues, Aug 24.  So far, only a few games have been played.

[modified] Oh, I see what you are saying.  Some of the matches scheduled for Tuesday don't have their scores reported on the standings page.

One of the concepts behind the league, radical to those used to WYS, is efficiency. In some age groups the interstate games are being rescheduled to take place "tournament fashion" to reduce travel and save money. As far as the local games, scheduling of those also takes into account the teams themselves to maximize convenience. It's completely different from the "please the WYS administrator" mindset that we are accustomed to.

agreed with tripleplay on the reasoning behind the reschedules, if you look at some of the matchups it would be nearly impossible for some parents to make midweek games when they are having to travel after work midweek during rush hour.  For the sake of the "reasonable" needs of some of the families some of the games need to be adjusted.

I do agree in that there seems to be a bit more flexibility in rescheduling, and it does appear they are allowing the teams to setup the schedules as to not impose too much hardship on families. ie, setting up travel games so that multiple trips are not necessary.
