Deadline to change teams
« on: September 29, 2005, 08:40:02 AM »

It's coming up at the end of October. It's time to jump ship for the unhappy ones, and curious to see if there is any movement.

October 31st is right around the corner.....

I have read a lot of posts, regarding "jumping ship" and what is right or wrong.

I think every player/parent feels "right" when they go to the new team b/c they justify it by their reasonings of their unhappiness (bad, good or indifferent) and the team getting the player feels "good" about (mostly the coach).

The team that the player left feels "wronged" by that player no matter what the reason was.

I think the state needs to put a definate time on when movement is allowed and when it is forzen.  I know they have the "add/transfer" rule for families that moved in from out of town/state.  Well that rule needs to be strictly for that and only that.

Players/parents always have the option and coaches don't.  Coaches can't tell a player to leave b/c he/she is not working out, they are tied to that player from tryouts until the team is done with state cup, unless of course that player(s) decides to leave.  It should work both ways and right now the way it is, there is no way a coach will cut a player during the year but player(s) can leave if they wish.

The best way is to have an "open window" period where a player can test the waters out where they committed at tryouts and if it's not a good fit then they can find other options during this period.  Once the "open window" period is closed, it should be closed and that player will need to stick it out until tryouts, no exception!
