Yes, I am concerned with the trend of blowouts but would like to have more information before comming to any conclusions. Such as:

What is the definition of a blowout?  How much of a goal differential defines a blowout and not just a solid win?

What is the percentange by team?  Are the same teams always blowing out others or are some teams on both the up and down side of a blowout depending on the game?

How much do the percentages of blowouts change either up or down as the ages change?  Are there more or fewer blowouts as the teams get older?

What I have noticed at U16 is that it is really any given day.  Some depends on injury, some depends on all the HS work and other stuff that is going on.  Teams are not always at 100%.  My DD's team got beat 5-0 on Sat by a team that lost 2 weeks ago 5-0 to another team and that they tied 0-0 during thanksgiving.  Then my dd's team won 1-0 on Sunday and beat a team they lost to 3-0 during thanksgiving tourney.

So my theory is any given day... If teams are consistently blowing out other teams and some teams are consistently getting blown out, then they are definitely in the wrong division...

The soccer pool is a pyramid ... At the top there are a few teams who can truely give each other competition.  As you move down the pyramid there is a wider number of teams that are comparable with each other.

The problem with the RCL is that they took a pyramid and tried to design it like the tower of pisa ... same width at its top as its bottom.  And some might say leaning towards one side.

RCL Division 3 & 4 teams are really District level teams packaged in a premier shell.  It would be expected that this level would have higher goal differential and more blow outs ... given that the pool is not deep enough this far down to give true like vs like competition.

Couldn't have anything to do with CAP Scores, could it? Coaches may know the importance of big goal differentials since winning apparently isn't the only goal anymore. If a coach wants a 3 goal differential at the end of a match, a 4 goal differential before letting up would be the goal, right?

Nice to see that the RCL league has turned into one huge tournament with winning just part of the equation, while maximizing the goal differential is really important if a team wants to out-seed a team that might have a better win/loss record.

Question: How much playing time is the bench getting in the RCL? That would be an interesting study to compare bench playing time today to that before CAP Scores were implemented. Especially among the teams on the winning side of these blowouts.

The main reason that they should have included all teams into the state league !  Keep your top 2 divisions RCL, and let everybody else duke it out and claw their way up. Will the state ever repair the damage they have done to state open league especially in the '95 and younger age groups, or do they even care     :drinks:

This is exactly what happend with the boys teams in the fall and the majority of everybody seemed to think it was just fine.  Well it's not if you are a team that is toward the bottom and then they cutoff the CAP score and place you in state cup based on the CAP.  When you improve toward the end of league play it doesn't matter, your CAP improves but they use the lower one.  So that forces you to have to play a meaningless play-in game, possibly cross state travel, just to have the right to pplay as a competitor in the state championship cup.  I think you will find it frustrating when a team that blows people out in div. 2 gets into championship cup, but you in Div. one have to play in.

But then some will say, it is the luck of the draw or you should have just been a better team.
