Great to see that he is finally being recognized  on the national level. I never could figure out why a player with his ability was never a member of any of the younger national teams. Just reinforces my opinion that the coaches at the national level are not necessarily the best judges of talent.

And just think, if he hadn't had the stunting HS stint....his first goal likely would  have been with the Senior side...against Argentina perhaps!  ;)  Sorry, couldn't resist.

Perhaps so.  Does Agudelo play in HS?

Did I miss something, or was he starting over the number 1 pick in the MLS draft!  :drinks:

From the article:

Rowe didn’t play for the Eagles during his sophomore and junior seasons because of his commitment to his club team, Crossfire Premier out of Redmond. Crossfire is part of the U.S. Development Academy, a national travel league for the country’s top prep players.

“I would make that decision again if I had to,” Rowe said, while signing his national letter of intent in February. “It was a better decision for my future.”

Weird.  He probably wouldn't know what was good for him either though.

Come on Elmaterife,

Lets remember history correctly, Those two years crossfire said its players could "NOT" play high school ball. In his senior year they changed course because WPFC was allowing its players to play HS ball and the word on the street was that some of the crossfire players were going to jump ship so crossfire (after calling WPFC and yelling at them) said yes to High School ball and so Rowe led his undermaned HS team to a 4th place finish.

It is sort of funny to hear the discourse over whether Kelyn was hurt or helped by skipping high school soccer.  Did XF develop him into the player he was?  Knowing him and having spent time on the pitch with him the past couple years when he 'gave back' to the area kids, he had a consistent development environment and methodology from age 6 through high school.  And it was not from any specific club.  The same goes for eight of the current players in the Sounders Academy.  Same situation.  All proven and it is not coming from these PDL/RCL clubs.

I'm not sure what I'm not remembering correctly.  I quoted Kelyn Rowe saying if he could do it all over again, he would make the same decision to not play high school.  He could have left Crossfire and gone anywhere in the state if he felt high school was important enough

I'm not putting words in anyone's mouth or spinning anything.  I directly quoted the article.  Why are these quotes from the very athletes we're talking about overlooked so easily?

And PS...I wouldn't have even brought it up save for the comment a few posts before.

Altidore (Josy), you can tell I am no fan because I did not even spell his name correctly.

His choice back then was to play Academy or not! The second Xfire lifted the ban he played both! Thats what I meant by history. The full story not just part of it.

My point is, you can still play HS ball and be a good player just like he did when he was given the choice. If I (never happen to me in a 1,000,000 years) had to choose one or the other like he did for two years I would made the same choice.

Rowes success is all his hard work and what he puts into this sport

Rowe, has two goals in the first 19 minutes v. Panama.  Game going on right now on ESPN3.com for those wanting to feel good about a thrashing.
