We have so many problems with player development in the US, I think this notion is absolutely spot on. Development NEEDS to trump winning in our youth system or we will never be at a place where we can succeed on the global stage - Development needs to replace winning

Quit sacrificing the developing careers of top youth players for the sake of the almighty win!!

Good topic, but the article was a little thin.  The video didn't really support the assertions by the article writer as much as I was hoping.

US won't become dominant globally in soccer until it overtakes football/basketball/baseball as the preferred boys sport.

Lets face it, soccer is a niche sport like hockey and lacrosse in USA for boys.

A better metric may be how the Women's side compare's globally.

In USA: soccer is the most popular sport for girls, and maybe forth for boys.
