Watch this video. I think it is absolutely correct and his opinions are refreshing. Also note that Lalas clearly disagrees.

Somewhere behind the player you've become, the hours of practice and the coaches who pushed you is the little boy or girl who fell in love with the game and never looked back...Play for them!

JK is a genius in soccer by North American standards.
He's probably smart about what takes place on the field, but for someone who has lived in the US for 12 years, he comes across as astonishingly ignorant of American culture. Comically, he contrasts soccer with basketball but somehow hasn't noticed that most NBA basketball players played in college, too.

Most may play college for a year or two but the majority use it only as a stepping stone to go Pro in basketbAll. Get out from under the rock 3play, because what he said was not ignorant it was accurate. The unfortunate part is many like you misunderstand the reality of why we are dead average at soccer overall.

The Finale: http://www.topdrawersoccer.com/club-soccer/club-soccer-archives/nid-19953/American-System-Part-5-The-Last-Word

For calling out so many flaws in the system, she doesn't really offer any feasible alternatives for the youth system..

Either way, pretty interesting read. Too bad most parents don't have the luxury of sending their kid to live in Europe.  ::)

Don't blame me, blame vms. He's the one letting his kid waste his time by going to college when he should be pursuing soccer perfection.
