Coached against him for many years.  Played against him in indoor for many years.  Watched him referee the semi-pro indoor games in Wenatchee.  Big loss to the soccer community in Upper Valley and in Wenatchee.

Best story he ever told me:  his HS boys' team is playing in Brewster (tiny eastern Washington town).  There is no locker room near the field so no indoor bathrooms.  The only facilities were a port-a-potty on the opposite side of the field.  THe port-a-potty was close the sideline near the half-way line.  One of his players on the bench had to use port-a-potty during the game.  Colin told kid to jog around field, which he did.  Assistant referee is on Colin's side of field.  Colin's team sends long ball over the top of the Brewster back line and to Colin's complete shock, the AR raises his flag to signal offside.  Colin screamed "on who, on who?"  AR tells him, "Player on the opposite side of pitch.  Yeah, you guessed it.  The kid who exited the port-a-pottie was flagged for offside, killing a breakaway.
