Klinsmann's next move
« on: August 02, 2011, 02:22:48 PM »

In Klinsmann's press conference, he said he's going to "work with and evaluate players as young as 18".

Is there anyway he'll be able to pull this off? Seems to me like he's not going to have the proper resources to make this happen..

Probably go to the youth national team camps and maybe the USSDA finals?

But I feel like that's not much of a change from the current methods. I can see why he would want to be a lot more hands on but aside from hiring a massive scouting staff, I don't think simply attending the USSDA finals is going to do a whole lot.

What was most discouraging in the article was that Klinsmann endorsed Reyna's new coaching manual. Its big change is that abandons small-sided at younger ages, pushing U8 into 7 v 7. I don't see how anyone who has ever seen a 7 year old play can think that makes sense. One step forward, two steps back.
