for the first time in 9 match ups, capital beat olympia 1-0 on tuesday.  great game to watch as high school goes.
I am somewhat surprised this Capital team (my old Alma mater ) is not in the top 10.
I thought Capital graduated several key seniors including their big striker who scored half their goals.   If they beat Enumclaw and Bellarmine they will move up. Holy Names should be a good game.  BM

no their tall striker is a junior this year.  the team looks good. .lost to bellermine tonight 2-1.  we had to borrow a field player for keeper and she was awesome  we will see how we do against holy names.

9/8 Mountlake Terrace at Shorewood

JV - Shorewood over Terrace 3-1, saw some good talent on Shorewood, Terrace for the most part looked like they were not that into the game.

V - Shorewood over Terrace 5-2, Shorewood has a number of girls that can solidly place the ball on frame from distance and/or to set up a quality break away. Terrace was a bit to loose in the midfield defensively and again this game didn't hit a number of quality looks in the box that could have turned the match into a real shootout.

I will be at the Bellarmine game.  Will report back.  Also they still have their big striker.

Interesting watching a game where you do not have a stake in it.
Bellarmine was the better side for sure.  That said the only goal that should of scored was from Capitals "big striker"  Bellermaine hit the goal post hard a number of times and  Capitals defender had a defensive header off the line that was incredible.  Capitals keeper had an amazing foot save that most keepers would probably been able to scoop up.  Both Bellarmines goals IMHO could of been stopped Capital had one real shot on goal and it was slotted nicely to the outside.
Anyone know the result of the Olympia Timberline game?

Skyview vs BG - I  thought  SHS looked a bit lethargic and maybe took BG a bit lightly. 0-0 at half, SHS got a nice goal off a corner about midway thru 2nd. Skyview tried to sit on the lead but BG played hard and got the equalizer late.

Also 1A Ridgefield 5 La Center 0 . Jordyn V congrats on first of what I am sure will be many HS goals!  8)

Varsity
Sumner vs BLHS 1-2 tough loss for Sumner, boy did BLHS move the ball well.

Caught both the Sumner/Enumclaw game and the Sumner/BLHS game this week.  Sumner looks to be the team to beat in 2A with their style of play (kick and run), with a very good physical athlete up front in #7.   As evidenced when they play against a passing team like BL, they look to struggle more, but most of the 2A teams will play a similar style and they will be hard to beat at that style.  SHS is very physically fit, they ran and ran and ran chasing those BL passes.   They have a couple defensive weak spots they will need to fix before they hit the tough league teams and playoffs, otherwise they may find themselves with a loss or two when they really don't want them.   If not fixed, it will be their "achilles heal" through league and playoffs.  Looks like AMV is off to a good start, pulling wins against some tough non-league teams.   Lets hope Decatur fixes their problems quickly to add some depth to the SPSL 3A league.   Interesting week of starting the season for Plateau area soccer.  Should shake up the standings a little with moves up and down and teams moving into the Top 10 (not that the rankings mean anything at all).   Keep sending your thoughts on Seattle area teams and Camas area teams you see.

Well said Do Not Take This,

I also saw the BLHS/Sumner JV and Varsity game, was very impressed with Sumner’s JV team, they sure have some talented players for the future. The Varsity game weighed on the side of BLHS.  BLHS passing was precise and well executed, while Sumner game was more like a kick ball game, with not enough speed up front to receive the passes. BLHS dominated the 1st half using their skillful foot work and speed, but to give credit to Sumner, they did pick it up in the 2nd half to make the game interesting. I was puzzled why Sumner’s coach was so quite on the sideline when her team was struggling in the 1st half.  BLHS coach was the complete opposite and was very active on the sideline, even with a 2-0 lead. I was glad to see our BLHS players never giving up and always pushing hard to the goal.

Cool pics, thanks.  :drinks:

Yesterday the Lady Lions (AMV) took on Seattle Christian and came away with a 2-0 win.  Lots of opportunities for some of the JV players to get some action in fact another Freshman came away with a goal.  DD (the unkown Freshman #10 in the pics) got her first assist.

Correction Hanford 9-0 over Kennewick.  Wow

The Kennewick program is not what it used to be, a decade ago.  They have lacked continuity in coaching, but much more importantly, the demographics of the HS population have changed dramatically.  While this has not hurt the boys side much, it has made trying to put together a competitive girls program "A whole new ballgame".
I hvae great respect for the coaches and players in the Kennewick girls program.  Many of the girls have never played soccer until they joined the HS teams.  Yet they compete as hard as they can, as well as they can, and they do not give up while there is an ounce of energy left in their bodies.
Yes, the Kennewick Lady Lions ran into a powerful, well coached Hanford Falcons team today.   One that scored the limit of goals that their coach would allow them to do.  (None of this 23-0 nonsense that another school in the Tri-Cities infamously undertook against Kennewick a couple of years ago).
But if you added up all the years of organized soccer by the Falcons roster, you would likely come up with more than two centuries worth.   Kennewick is lucky if they have half a dozen kids who have much club experience at all.  Yet they go out there and give it their best.  My hat is off to them.

Southridge, ranked #1 in 3A, has been squeaking out 2-1 victories over non-ranked opponents.   While I would cheer if they finished the year as state champions, I fear that the current ranking is way overblown.  Didn't Southridge beat Pasco 2-1 last week?  The same Pasco that just lost by 7?
Kamiakin has an extremely demanding and very experienced coach in Erikson.  Her teams are never less than competitive, no matter what the circumstances.
Walla Walla keeps losing games by 1 goal.   Hmmm.........

From what I hear, Liberty is for real.  I know moving up from #8 to #1 would be a big jump but we'll see.  Bellevue has only had the one match but they played very, very well against Skyline.  Auburn Mountainview looked strong against #4 Kennedy in their 1-0 win but that's been their best match of the three they've played so far.

I hear Liberty is good too. But a move to #1 after a blowout win and a loss the Skyline. Slow down trigger. Bellevue tied Skyline. Maybe Bellevue should be ranked 3A.  Maybe Skyline us raked too high this year
Prep has not lost a game yet. As I recall, they won state last year. They should be ranked higher if anyone should. I would put them top three.
Southridge is still undefeated, I think they hold the#1 ranking.
Holy Names #3 beat Kennedy#4 3-0.  Kennedy probably drops to the bottom of Top 10.
That's my thoughts BM
PS. Early season rankings don't mean a final four birth. You gotta stay healthy and get a little lucky.
Good luck to all teams.
