Complaining about Refs
« on: October 12, 2011, 02:58:45 PM »

Sometimes the complaints are valid. From last night. I particularly liked the confused look from the goalkeeper. Enjoy.

I would say oops on this one.  I would have been the same way as the player that got carded.  Prove to me where the ball went through the net.  Nice juggling by the center forward.

Yea, MAJOR oops by the officiating team.

If I was a player on the team, I too would have been cautioned but much earlier - like within 10 seconds after the supposed goal.

Wow, and not once did they check the net on such a controversial call...

I would "assume" that the AR on that side of the field checked his net prior to the start of the game - SOP.  If there was a hole in the net, then he would have known, if there wasn't a hole, then he would have known.  If in fact the AR did not check the net prior to the game then he should have been "assuming" that the net was in perfect shape and not making up a "possible" hole.  This glaring judgement error could have been avoided simply by following SOP in the pre-game.
Irregardless of the "hole" in the net, the action of the ball does not, in my opinion and viewpoint (up in the stands, not on the field) give rise to even thinking the ball was within the frame...
I am not saying that either the AR or the Ctr are bad referees, but sometimes big mistakes happen and it pays to be overly cautious/prepared for crucial scenarios such as this.  I feel sorry for the Ctr, if he sees this video, he will certainly be kicking himself for sometime to come.

Can't believe that call was missed that bad given how high over the bar it actually was.  I guess both the center and AR were out of position/not paying attention and/or were swayed by the celebration of the forward?

Anyway it is sad the ref was afraid to confirm there was no hole in the net after blowing the call.  Granted it would have been a hit to his ego to admit the mistake, but I think that would be preferable to getting so wrong.

I thought the white team did a pretty good job holding it together where the call was so obviously incorrect. The "goal" put the white team down 1-2 late in the second half and they ended up losing the game. Tough way to lose but mistakes happen.
