GU15 State League
« on: October 13, 2011, 12:57:14 AM »

So, now that registration is open for the WYS winter league, who is signing up?

The state bailed on the GU14 and GU13 Fall League without telling anyone; who is willing to count on them to have a GU15 league in January (Spring league)?

Why would a legitimate team that wanted to play soccer pick WYS over the PSPL?  What are WYS's guarantees that they will have a league?  At least the PSPL has a couple of dozen returning teams.
WYS lost their U14 s, SHill and Franklin Pierce, two TPCJSA clubs that stuck with the State and kept their teams in the State League when no one else was there.

The RCL is killing Washington State Youth Soccer.
The first arrow was taking 'Association' out of the State relationship with clubs.  The second was ignoring select soccer.

lester, I think that you are wrong in your statement of the WYS "ignoring" select soccer.   It is quite plain that they are deliberately trying to kill it.
Could their aim to be ZERO districts, 24 associations with 24 RCL clubs, and everyone else is just feeder rec programs?  That is what it seems like.

Lester,

Your logic seems fishy. If Associations are the key, then why is the PSPL the place to play? (US Club doesn't recognize Associations - only clubs.) Whatever their noble intent, Associations' are responsible for directly or indirectly driving clubs out of WYS at the rate of over one per year (whose teams become the core of the PSPL).  What we need is to go to an open model, such as can be found in other states, where clubs join WYS directly and clubs create and play in the leagues of their choice.

The problem is that there ever was such thing as a "State" league. We need to move beyond nostalgic fondness for the alleged "good old days" and do what is right - soccer players have to come before soccer politicians.
