mhall ~ Thanks for the ideas - I'll keep looking for "da rules."   :D

tripleplay ~ I see your point about some negative aspects to the player pass, but, having the "rules" up-front and visible might also help in team decision making.  I thought "recruiting" was frowned upon?  Just kidding!   ;D   Of course, we would LOVE to have more players on our BU12 teams (and, we, as parents, have been on the lookout for more players), but, logistically, we, Harbor Premier, are right between Washington Premier and Westsound -  so their are 3 Premier clubs, within a relatively short distance, from which players and their parents can choose.  Choices ARE a good thing - and, we would LOVE to have more players choose our club.   :D

Hi Jellyman!

It's funny!  I have tried to find the rules and I can't find them anywhere.  I have seen pieces of it on here and I believe I found a reference on the RCL page.  But I have not been able to find anywhere, other than hearing from our DOC, that player passes would not be allowed in the promotion/relegation games.  In your situation you should have been able to legitimately used the player pass because the pass is meant to be used exactly in a situation like yours where there are kids not available to play.

Anyway, sorry about side tracking but I haven't been able to find the actual written rule.  I only got the written rule for the player pass from an email sent out to team managers from our DOC.

Good luck rooting around the WYSA Website.  Sometimes you can find DOC minutes within your organization as well because the DOC sometimes sends out newsletters to help keep coaches and managers abreast of what's happening.

You guys thought I was being facetious about the DoC Committee and the ever-mutable rules?  The rules are not published publicly.   If they were, it would be harder to change them on a moment's whim.
Did you try the WYS website under leagues? All the documents are posted there, including league rules...

Hi Pops!

I did go there and the information shown there is rather generic and I could not find any updated information regarding player passes or the rule pertaining relegation/promotion from one division to another in the RCL.

I know that both of those were just recently updated (the 7v2 playoff for promotion/ relegation and the player pass) - that may be why they aren't yet current.

If by recent you mean 10 months ago, then yes they were recently updated.
