UPDATE

I just got this email...

Hi David –

I wish to apologize.  We need you to retract this release regarding the Highline Premier FC hosting the NSCAA clinic. Unfortunately, the information supplied to us from the contact with NSCAA was either inaccurate or was misinterpreted.  The short is that NSCAA is not involved in this in any official capacity.  The trainer is a former NSCAA staffer but no longer. More importantly, the event is being sponsored by US Club/Puget Sound Premier League.  This is not our league organization and organizational affiliation. Finally, PSPL is charging for this event and we were positioning it as a free clinic.  In short, signals were severely crossed.

David, I sincerely apologize to you. The information I received was exactly as sent onto you.  It was just the information I received was inaccurate.

Apologies.

Below is where it was moved to. David, with your website, are you more a journalist or publicist? If journalist, you might want to dig deeper about why it was moved. The influence from WYS on this is seedy.

Jeff Tipping has been the Director of Coaching for the NSCAA for the past 8 years. He recently retired. To apply the term "former staffer" to him would be akin to saying Don James was a "former UW employee". As you can see below, the clinic is free.

Coaches and managers:

We are very excited to announce that former NSCAA coaching director Jeffrey Tipping will be putting on a Coaching clinic on developing strikers for elite youth teams.

Where: Ingraham High School Stadium: 1819 N 135th Street, Seattle 98133

When: Tuesday, Nov. 15 @ 7 p.m.-8:45 p.m.

Cost: None.

Tipping is kicking off our new Coaching Education Initiative that will include coaching sessions twice a month at Starfire that will cover relevant topics for select and premier coaches. These sessions, called "PSPL Special Topics," will inculde a youth team for demonstration and top qualified youth coaches and trainers helping you navigate some of the rougher tactical and technical waters you may encounter in your weekly practices.

Tipping is a national legend in youth-coaching circles. He is informative but also highly entertaining. You don't want to miss this rare opportunity to glean insights from one of the best in our profession.

More information about the PSPL individual coaching-education sessions and our overall coaching education vision can be found on our web site: PSPL.

We also want to thank the Issaquah Soccer Club for helping to bring Tipping to the Seattle area, regional NSCAA and PSPL technical director Leigh Cullip, and Emerald City Football Club for supplying the team and the field.

All coaches are invited to learn and be inspired by one of the masters!

See you on the pitch!

Thanks for the update, and insight. I publish these sorts of things as a courtesy to the soccer community.

David,  you owe the soccer community to check out the facts.... you seem to be pro-WYS rather than pro-soccer.  HPFC coaching director, who is devoted to player development at the expense of winning games agreed to host the former NSCAA former director Jeffrey Tipping at Starfire.   PSPL/Issaquah soccer club sponsored the event, HPFC coaching director, and NSCAA thought it would be great for the older HPFC boys teams to demonstrate at the event.  This event would have offered to WA coaches, for free, one of the best trainers in the US.  Even thought the PSPL and ISC were offering the coaches education session for free, Gary White/WSYSA shut down HPFC involvement.

Thanks Gary White.

David, this is real journalism... check facts involves contacting both sides, not just being a point man for Gary White's propaganda.

PS:  60 coaches showed up at the rescheduled Ingraham HS venue.  Session was incredible.

Don't come at me with "real journalism" labels. Seriously?

I am not "pro" anything, except understanding what I like to write, what brings me joy, and what people want to read.

However, goalWA.net is an open forum and we accept articles all of the time. If you would like to pursue this and want a slightly widened audience to read it, then I'd be happy to entertain your reporting and submission.

It's not that I don't want to be a watchdog against WYS, it's that most of the feedback I get is that people are not interested in these kinds of 'stories.'

I attended this clinic.  It was free and well done.  I enjoyed the topic specific to training strikers and the presentation. I haven't been able to make any of Gary White's free clinics so I really can't compare them.

I am thankful for the NSCAA clinics that are occasionally offered here on the West side.   I don't fit the physical profile of what USYSA wants for their coaches so that avenue to further my coaching education has been pretty much closed down.

You don't seem to get it. We don't want you to write any story. Your obvious pro WYS bias prevents you from being fair and balanced. The fact you readily accepted the HPFC board/WYS-fed email that was so riddled with lies and falsehoods and you posted it without exercising any judgment or filter, is just more proof of your failure to be a credible soccer writer.  You do sports writing and journalism a huge disservice by pretending you are serious about your craft.  You are merely a poser.

If you want to write and you want to be credible, you cannot take sides.  You check your facts. You report without fear or favor.

You have failed on this incredibly important path. Your sloppy cavalier writing has contributed additional damage to an already fractured youth soccer community. This is a community that has already been poisoned by misinformation, deceit and intimidation.

You had the biggest youth soccer story in the country handed to you on a silver platter and you blew it.  You missed the story!  Or you conveniently disregarded the truth.

No, David, we don't want you to post anything on your tarnished website.  What we want you to do is to stop writing until you decide what you want to be when you grow up.

It was a press release. Hell, I'd accept a press release from *you* if you were representing an soccer organiztion and it *seemed* legit.

Posting press releases is not "taking sides." All are welcome. I'd love more US Club Soccer news.

I am pretty sure most of www.goalWA.net's readers get that.

"Tarnished" website? LOL. And I thought the only axes to grind were in Timbers country.

BIGGEST youth soccer story in the COUNTRY??? Wow. I guess I did blow it.

Is there a press release coming on that?

To the Double Dose's of Shat for brains, I beg of you to fall off the face of the earth before you ruin your addle brains even more.  I seriously take offense to you attacking a Man who has put many MANY hours of his time, bringing us the passion of the game. I do not see any bias or conspiracy theories (as you all ramble on about nothing) that David has published thus far, only the facts. It Junior High common knowledge that you read a story or information given and form your own opinion, the writer is just there to give the facts, you idiots. I am sick to my stomach that you would even attack him like that, when all he did was put the information out as given to inform us of any information he has so that we too may have knowledge. You want an investigation then you go "Get Jesse", David thank you for always filling my days with happenings and information about Soccer, it is much appreciated on my end as I can't be everywhere just here.

Thanks, David, for all you do.  I'm sure I am like many...never voiced my appreciation before but have been quietly enjoying the content for quite some time.

As for your invitation to the USCS folks to write some content and post it: YES, please do!

I'm not in the USCS/PSPL loop.  Looks like some of the stuff going on there is interesting and (gasp!) of value.  I am however, so totally turned off by the "chip on the shoulder" attitude so many of the USCS posters, I perceive, have.  Instead of using an attack on WYS as your only means of publicizing your organization - SHARE!  'cause I sure as heck am not going to learn about the good things you are doing through my WYS affiliated club.  Nor should I.  Thats your job.

Stuff like the venom in this thread...it doesn't look good.  All it does is show to people who like me, uninformed but interested, that your version of USCS soccer politics is no less nasty -maybe even more so- than that which I already know.  While the USCS attack dogs will probably see this message as an unwarranted assault, it is in fact a plea for civility and a focus on usable content, something that will help the WHOLE community.  Thanks for taking time to read my rant.

Thanks David.

Maybe you should focus on collegiate and above. I hear the mean people leave the game by that age.

Keep doing what you are doing!

HoHum, I fear that you are sadly mis-informed about the mean people leaving the game at that age.  The survivors are just a bit smarter!!

But anyway, David, keep up the good work.  I am firmly convinced that one builds up positive karma for heaven through how much the ignorant haters are upset with one!
