Player transfers over Dec. break
« on: November 14, 2011, 04:54:55 PM »

Would appreciate a reply for a U-13 Boy's Premier level player currently playing Select that will finish their season after next week. The kid played basketball last year, but wants to continue playing soccer at a higher level and will not be playing basketball this year. Does the RCL clubs allow new player transfers over winter break before the Spring RCL season? Not sure on the club yet, but have been going to some RCL division 1 and division 2 games.

Cannot speak to specific club policies, but the WSYSA does allow players to switch clubs at virtually any time.   Players may be cup tied, or they may not meet guidelines to be added to a team's roster for cup play beyond a specific date.

Gosh! I sure hope there aren't any rules against this. Of course, such a move could shake the very foundations of the 12 year old soccer world so who knows....

You just have to look for an RCL club that has a tryout or needs players. If you go to the WSYSA RCL website they have some specific rules such as you (the parent) need to initiate contact with the club and coach (I believe it also needs to be in writing, email ok). As long as the club can show they did not poach your child from the current select team. Of course that only applies if you are going from one club to another, you probably just need to talk to your coach if you want to move to an RCL team in your current club.

So what if a kid wants to go from a US Club Soccer club to a club that has WSYSA and US Club Soccer affiliation?  I assume that would just be a US Club issue and if so, what are the rules?

If you are playing in a WYS league then no problem.  You can be carded in one club/team USCS and another club/team WYS.

If you are going to play in a USCS sanctioned event with the new club then the old club will need to release you.  In this case USCS will want to have another registration fee paid before issuing you a player card for the new club.

Not all teams within a club need to be dual registered.  Some clubs only pay the organization for which the team will be participating in.

There are no rules as neither organization recognizes the other. If a kid had time he could play on a team that played US Club soccer and a different team that played WSYSA at the same time. I know some crazy kids who did just that in California (US Club and CYSA).

Sorry, I missed the "and US Club Soccer affiliation" part.
