For Turkey, a chilled reisling or (better) a nice Rioja.

Most chefs will tell you that Pinot Noir is the number one choice for pairing with turkey and the usual thanksgiving sides.

Big Estended Family Thanksgiving.   Twenty adults (over 18s) and a myriad of rugrats.  I get to do the appetisers.  I am not making my famous meatballs, saving them for Christmas Eve.

I'll be doing :
Shrimp Mini Smorrebrod (an herb and shallot mixture with mayonaisse spread on small, thin Rye bread topped with small shrimp)
Cheesy Cucumber Bites
Deviled Eggs
Bacon and Cheddar Pastry Crisps
Blue Cheese and Walnut pastry puffs.
Pear, Cheese and Apple Cuplets in a Pomegranent Suace.

And for afters, I am bringing a bottle of Licor 43.

That sounds great EW.  I haven't have Liqor 43 in ages.

I'm only on the hook for dessert and haven't decided what to make yet.  Thinking about a cassata torte.  Like blue cheese and pears, the chocolate and orange combination is one I can't resist!

I know that it makes me weird, but chocolate and orange is something that I have never faniced.  For that matter, never could take orange marmelade at all.   But then, it seems like most people won't have anything to do with blue cheese at all.

Anyone try pumpkin cheesecake?   How is that?  Somehow, I have never had any.....

Actually, broccoli is a very late harvest vegetable, isn't it?   Seems logical that if broccoli (where did it originate?  name sounds Italian-ish) were around back in the 1500s, then it might have been on the table for the first Thanksgiving.  Isn't there a type of wild asparagus that grew in the sandy soils near the shores of Massachussetts?   That would have been part of the meal, if the Indians had brought some to share.

The chef up at the TPC Snoqaulmie Ridge Golf Club us to make the worlds greatest Pumpkin Cheese Cake.  It was a real treat ever year.
I think there was some rum involved, but it's been a while   ;)
