Congrats Kees!

TopDrawerSoccer said when singling out Westra as a player to watch: “This Snohomish United player isn’t afraid to mix it up. He’s strong and tough and wins a lot of 50-50 balls that may go unnoticed but add up to positive plays  for his team.”

Watch the Sounders snap him up....which is great for him and good advertising for the club.

Inform me: Is Snohomish quite a ways from Starfire where Sounders train? Is it because he's 13 years old and thus not quite ready for u16 USSDA (obviously)....or is it that the pre-Academy age group has just begun .... thus he wasn't already part of the Sounders?

Good on USSF to have a u14 group and try to find talent but with registrations SO HIGH at this age still and elite leagues not yet established to a USSDA-level how do these players truly get singled out? ODP? League MVP? etc etc?

Just seeking some clarification. (just an FYI - here in BC we basically have tryouts for a provincial team and then ask the parents to fork over the cash, and the National Training Centre staff scout those tryouts and teams and then invite players to play in the NTC for free. They then compete against players from other NTC for a spot to represent the country - anyone can tryout for the Provincial team. We're seeking to upgrade/adapt this process here).
