That's great. Down here in Oregon we'll be rooting for Rubio Ruben from WSM Galacticos who will also be starting against France. 2 pm Fox Soccer Channel.

It's a great story!  He didn't make crossfire's A team, so he went FCA and then WPFC.  Now, he's starting for the USMNT U-17.  They are an absolutely wonderful family and have a younger son who is an outstanding soccer player as well.

I think he started on the FCA B team at U11 and has been to several clubs - they are a great family and he has worked hard to make himself so good

<Sarcasm on>

What? He can't be very good. He didn't get the required 10,000 touches on the ball before he was 10. Everyone knows that if you aren't a world class player at 10 then you can't possibly catch up and improve yourself during your teen age years, hard work and desire be damned.  Oh, the horror, the horror!!!!! This is clearly a mistake in the selection process. How did this kid sneak through the cracks? He should have had his spirit crushed at 10 years old when he didn't make the A team. Obviously there needs to be a newly funded position to rectify this and make sure it can't possibly happen again....

Send out more documents, revamp the selection process, the sky is falling...

</Sarcasm off>

Seriously, congrats to Paul for making his dream come true...

Another great showing by the boys from the Northwest. Rubin scores and Christensen very solid in goal (goal against was unstoppable) in 3-1 win by US over Brazil. Fantastic.

I have only seen parts of the match, have it on the DVR, hope to watch it all tomorrow.
Points -
1)   A very much better performance than I can remember the USA U-17s putting out before.
2)   The attacking is so much better than what we have seen in years past.
3)  The defending is still niave and amatuerish.  It is almost like defenders are chosen on their ability to (someday) move forward and attack rather than their ability to read the opponents attacks and stop them.
