It was a great weekend for the EFC girls on the field and off. While in Atlanta the girls took in both semifinal games of the NCAA final four, Stanford vs. Flordia State and the second match featured Duke and Wake Forrest and the BBQ was off the hook :drinks:

USYSA National League for boys U15 to U18.  From Birmingham this year coincided with the collage soccer championships. (Our DS attended the UCLA v UNC   semi final game. With Mr.Rowe showing well yet again!)

Many coaches attending the U17 games looking for next years possibilities.

This venue produces some very competitive, back and forth games.  EFC 94 was one of only two teams to go without a loss in the whole tournament. (Ohio Crew U18 went 3-0.)  One less game than EFC,s  4-0.   EFC is the only team out of the 60 teams thru all age groups to come out with a clean slate 10 for 0 against.
They roughed up the east coast teams here taking down Got Soccer's 17th, 9th, 8th, and 7th ranked teams.

Not bad!

The final 3 games of this competition are in Las Vegas in late March.  The winners of each group of eight get a direct pass to the 6 team national championship tournament.

Just got off the phone with coach Dan Strom, talking about EFC 94 Red's 10 goals for, zero against performance last week in Birmingham!

http://goalwa.wordpress.com/2011/12/16/eastside-fc-94-red-boys-go-undefeated-in-birmingham-at-nationals/

“We lost seven players from last year,” Coach Strom tells me. “We used league play (the team went 13-0-1) to regain chemistry with the new players. We only gave up nine goals, and most of those were early in the league season. So we had hopes that we were coming together at the right time. I think we might actually be a more skillful team than last year. We have good balance and we are very athletic.”

EFC 94 RED heads to Orlando Florida for the Disney Soccer Showcase. (12-27 thru 12-30)  Many, many teams and lots of college coachs.  They are playing in the U17  Showcase-Gray group. Excellent east coast competition.  Go-RED!

Disney update,

Day one  5-nil victory over Chicago Fire Academy.  (DS says new U17 team with a few academy players.)

Day two.  An inspired local Florida team (Jacksonville United) give EFC there best game in some time,  going up 1 nil early, EFC would tie the score shortly there after but Jacksonville would go up 2-1 just before the half. Midway thru the second EFC would tie it again at 2-2. But Jacksonville counters with another at about the 30 minute mark of the second half.  EFC pressures for the rest of of the contest and finally hits the equalizer with 30 seconds left in the game to pull out a 3-3- draw.
Great Game by both sides!

Tomorrow is V #9 Lake Grove from New York. A win and EFC is thru to the final. A draw might do it depending on Jacksonville final score. A loss and they go home.

More to come.

Congratulations yet again to EFC B94RED, Winning the gray division of the Disney Showcase the last week.

Starting to sound like a broken record,  but how a team plays out of state and against top competition is a barameter of how good a team is precieved to be by those who follow these things and these boys just seem to improve every year.

There were two other top level (8 team) divisions in this event Red and Black.  Boca of Fl. won the Red, Lemont Raiders of IL. won the Black. And EFC won the Gray.   EFC has never played Boca,  but has a 3-nil victory over the Raiders two weeks ago in the Birmigham National League event.

Eastside continues to play very well, in Washington, on the west coast,  and beyond.

Fine work Gentlemen!
