An interesting question, but the article does not provide an adequate answer, and in fact is sloppy journalism for these reasons:
1. The article says the study involved analysis of stoppages in 56 matches. It fails to tell us how many were men's matches and how many were women's matches.
2. The article implies that the only men's team analyzed for the study was Bayern Munich. If that is the case, it's a very narrow sample and hardly representative of the men's game.
3. The article does not state which women's team(s) were analyzed for the study. Thus we have no idea what apples are being compared to what oranges.
4. While the article does tell us that stoppages, on average, took longer in men's matches than women's matches, it does not tell us if there were more total stoppages in men's matches than in women's matches.
5. The article provides no link to the actual study, which means we can't answer those questions for ourselves.

I spent many years as a newspaper copy editor and one of the things you learn in that job is that reports on studies often raise more questions than they answer.  ;D
