They say the younger ages are there to help fund the older kids, but I disagree.  My sons U13 team gets 14 games in the fall and then 6 to 8 games in the winter.  He practices pretty much all year, with a few weeks off in the summer and Christmas.

My daughters U15, gets 10 games in the winter and  3 months off for HS (which was a joke for coaching).

I am paying the same amount for both kids, but getting double the games for my son.

Just a little irritated!

Pending the results of the GRFC tournament, but for now I think there are some GU15 very poor placements, Dos White is the most obvious.

What is the benefit of Div 2 having 12 teams, while div 1, 3 & 4 have 6 each?

Only having to play everyone once instead of facing the same teams over and over again.  ;)
Get a better picture of how they all stand against each other.

Islander (thanks for the heads up) is right. The landscape is shifting faster than the leagues can accommodate for.

The first thing that came to my mind while perusing the spreadsheet was the lack of teams altogether.

Seems like they want a big Division 2 so they can all feel good about their placement. Afterall, it may help the parents feel better while shelling out huge dollars if they are in Division 2 and not 3 or 4.

or maybe they grouped them on like vs like and the truth is the majority of the teams are neither at the top nor at the bottom and are just average teams in the middle so they all belong in division 2.  That would make more sense than putting two more teams in division 1 where they will lose every game and 2 more teams in division 3 where they will win every game just so the division numbers are equal.  but I guess you need to believe you are the only enlightened parent in youth soccer and everyone else is a moron.

I'm not going to speculate on the how and why they did what they did with the divisions.  It seems very strange though.

Anyway the numbers are this, last winter there were 39 teams in the G96 RCL.  This winter there are 30.  Two are gone to the ECNL.  Two are gone to the OPL.  At least two have folded.  I don't see teams leaving and heading to the PSPL.  I think the drop in numbers has to do more with the clubs not having as many teams and for travel reasons.

It is how it has always been.  The older the teams get the few teams there are.  Players as they enter High School have other activites which draw them away from soccer.  Whether its socal, work, other sports ... it all takes a toll on the number of teams playing.

In this Association we can have 4 - 6 teams at U12 but by U18 there might be one at age team.

Changes already, Dos 96 white has been moved up to division 2.  That was well earned.

Dos White is a good team. Glad they aren't stuck in 3.

And the sun is shining ever so brightly in Kent this morning!  Division 2 will be a challenge for the Dos 96 White girls, but they've earned this promotion.  ;D ;D :drinks:
