Went to the College showcase of champions up in Redmond WA and watched Or and Id clubs play both ECNL clubs in Washington. Though both ECNL clubs used it as a way for everybody to play and let others not play to heal up, but some of the games were very good. The Id clubs seemed to be a little behind both Wash and Or. Eastside, FC Portland did okay. Ossa U-16 played a good game against Crossfire U-16 and beat WPSC ECNL. Neither of the ECNL teams played their best players for more than 20 minutes.
The funny thing about ECNL is it is rough, and the Refs let the girls play. It is nothing like normal State play in Wash. it closer to the college level. What was funny was the OSSA parent yelling for fouls that on an ECNL field are not fouls.
As for getting in to ECNL they look at the whole club and how it does. It helped that Crossfire was one of the founding members for them to get in. Now you will see individual teams complain about not getting in. It is the club as a whole not just the individual teams, some teams maybe better than those playing just the club is not. Do we up in Wash hope Or and Id get teams heck yah. Travel to Cali four times this year was expensive but also really wore the girls down, leave on a Friday afternoon back late Sunday night, go to school at 7 and do this three weeks in a row then get your home games and back to Cali. Is it worth it
We had 150 college coaches show up to three games in SanDiego. This weekend we had 30 at a 3 game college showcase. 4 girls have commited with full rides combo athletic/acedemics at u-16 on each of the ECNL club teams. Yes it is worth it.
