Ok anyone know if Rainier Challenge is going to do upper and lower brackets or one big mix?  How many teams do they limit themselves to per age?  Between PM's and websites I have found over 30 u-13 teams thinking they are going to RC.  Wide range of teams from the top teams all the way down to a team ranked in the 60's at one ranking website (the team in the 60s has hotel booking info at their site figuring they are in)

How has this been handled before?  Will Starfire and Viking take any more teams in after their deadline?

Dragon know last year and etc they not do upper/lower brackets.  Might be good idea but not know if da fields could handle da load :?

If dey havin' older and younger teams playin same time then younger teams will get stuck at HS's, etc for first few games......

DS might spread da word that if "lower level" team looking for games on Memorial weekend, might need ta look elsewhere quickly

every team has to apply and make hotel reservations on the chance that they'll get in. The rooms can be cancelled, but if you do get in, and don't have rooms reserved the team might have to stay in Fife, and that would be bad. We applied, and reserved rooms. If we don't get in we don't, simple as that. We'll look to see what else may be available, if nothing is it won't be the end of the world. It's just another tournament, there's others.

All games will be played at the WPFC North and South Complex Fields, i.e., the old Royals and United fields.  It's U11-15, so no need for fields at other sites.  As to upper and lower brackets, I'm not sure here, but I believe there will be Silver and Gold brackets this year.

Wow
I got a number of PM on this one.  Thanks to everyone who got back to me.  Looks like they are planning silver and gold brackets and will take all who apply.  Our team is one of the lower teams also and will be put in the silver bracket.  not really what we were hoping for.  Win or lose we were looking to play the best.

I am awaiting a PM that should clear things up thanks to a CP in the loop

The deadline is this Friday, May 5th to enter and the commitee will meet next week to set things up so I am sure you will see the schedules out soon. This is a very organized group with kids that are playing so I am sure they will get them out as soon as possible,

Keep your shorts on. More to come in due time. This is always a great tournament and I know our girls are really looking forward to it.

Dragon Slayer--there are about 20 U-13 teams that have been accepted, some very good--WPFC black, Eastside Red, Patriots, NWN, Snohomish, Mukilteo, Kitsap, etc.  Some are less strong, but are looking for a challenge.  There are not plans to create silver and gold brackets.  There are about 110 team entered boys and girls at this time.  Things may change as they look at the make up of teams and given the number of teams.

There are about 16 U-12 teams including Crush, Eastside, WPFC Black, Snohomish, Velocity, etc.

I posted this on another thread as well because I dont know who reads what. . . . gets confusing sometimes :D !  As opposed to what i said earlier, the tournament is considering a gold/super group type set up at some age groups.  Thanks for the information about Eastside--it should make for a great weekend at many places..  Great updated information. Dragon, how could I have forgotten the Timbers! Major oversight on my part.  What I meant to write was that many good teams are coming--such as patrtios, velocity, TIMBERS BLUE, and others.   :D

now to see how they figure out 22 teams at u-13

Will they still have to turn down some?  Will they end up with a silver and gold?  Anyone know all?

Have you heard anything new?  We are waiting to see if we got in. If not that is fine but we need to know so the girls can play somewhere that weekend.  Can not get a response.  Was assured they would let us know early if not accepted.  Have a different tournament with a spot open but can not take it.  It will fill by the time I know anything here I am afraid.

Ok
Here is what I have been told
Looks like they MAY end up bracketing a number of age groups.  They are going to use the fact they have light to help get games in.  Should have accepted teams list anytime now.
