yeah, I guess I agree with that Squash...We should all be reminded of the ignorance of some.  I just didn't see "humor" in it.  Thanks for your thoughtful reply... I didn't mean to be a downer...just wanted to express that my opinion is it's not really "funny", more thought provoking.

I totally understand Rollercoaster   Your daughter wouldn't happen to be a goalie?¿?

RC... I am with you on the avatar. We are talking about U-11's here and those girls read this forum. Yes, we want them to know its wrong that things like that still happen but I dont think that this U-11 soccer forum or U-11 soccer parent forum is the place for that reminder. I feel its too strong for this forum.
Just my opinion. Sorry if I upset you RKing.

I think its a reminder we all should remember and talk to our kids about. Thats how we stop racial problems by talking about it and teaching our children. Hopefully my DD sees it and asks :!:  :x

Rollercoaster - I agree with you - I have two mixed race kids myself, and things like this are so hard to balance - are we better off having them ask - or not having it slap us in the face all the time??  My kids are older (I just love reading all the stuff from your age group - such fun!!) - but even for them - the constant reminder that not everyone acts the way we wish they did can be difficult.

But - let's face it - ignorance exists everywhere - and maybe the only way we make it better is to talk about it.  Roller - between your kids and mine - and all the other great soccer families out there - we have a chance to make a start.  Rodneyking - thanks for spurring a good conversation that needs to be ongoing!!

Have a great soccer day everyone!!  Play hard and have fun!!

Hey all!  I think I was being too sensitive!!   ;)   No worries...Sitting Bull and I have it all worked out!!   :D   I do agree that it sparked a good conversation though!~  Hey Squash...no DD isn't the Dos goalie...nope!  In fact our goalie isn't mixed!  Maybe you are thinking of another Dos team?  U12? U13?  I am not sure!  8)
My little sweetie is number 17!!  She has played all over the place, mostly defense and sweeper!  Today against FC Harbor she played mostly left mid and then some forward the second half. (in case Dragon was there....hahaha)

You know what I like - I like the fact that in the several years since both my kids started playing soccer - it's not as easy as it used to be to say - oh that's the black kid, asian kid - whatever kid on so and so team.  My kids used to stand out - but not so much anymore - the game has come to many more people than it used to.  For example - my niece plays for Crossfire A U15 - and she used to be like my kids - the one and only non-white on the team - but now - her team has a great cross-section of ethnic types.  I love to see that!!!

Soccer is for everyone!!!  Long live the beautiful game!!

Tiger it is K that you refer to...right?¿? She's one of the best keepers at her age bar none. I love watching her play. She was outstanding in the manchester cup in oregon. She was the biggest reason IMO that they made the semifinals there. She rules!!!

Yup - that's who I mean - and I agree with your assessment of her as a keeper (no bias here!!)  - she is also a great kid away from soccer as well.  Thanks for the kind words - I'll pass them on.  ;)
