Rainier Challenge Brackets are up
« on: May 16, 2006, 12:48:16 AM »

For whoever is interested, the Rainier Challenge Brackets are now posted.  Looks like some interesting matchups, like in the GU-15 bracket.  WPFC Black would appear to have the edge in the Super A bracket, but Timbers showed well in the State Tournament.  It will be the first test of them this season.

The GU-15 Super B bracket should be between Marauders who went to the Starfire Finals and held their ground against Crossfire Hinton and FC Portland.

The GU-15 Super C bracket should be interesting with Oregon Runner-up, Bend Ice, and Reign Purple who gave a good game to Eastside up at Snohomish.

My guess it will be WPFC Black, Marauders, Reign and Bend ICE in the semi finals.  It is anyone's guess who will actually win among those four.  They all should be close games.

Relative dearth of big names in the RC for BU15.
Could it be EFC RED v. WHITE in Finals?

VMS. I was thinking the same thing and it seems to me that most of the local tournaments are having the same issues.  Do you think that many of the P1,2 and 3 teams are opting to go to other tournaments out of state?  Are they too good now to play other local teams or don't want anyone to see them play until league starts.  I do know that some teams are opting for Super Y spring/summer league instead of tournaments.

Seems to add to the already huge costs of select sports.  It's kind of neat to travel but it doesn't allow all kids that want to play to join a "traveling" team due to the high costs.  Don't know what the fix is, but seems to be a worsening trend every year when even the hosting teams opt out - seems like a raw deal for the masses.

What say you?

Looks like Dynamo and Xfire are playing superY.Don't know about WPFC Black? Makes it somewhat incestuous playing the same teams over and over and over...

I was told that WPS BU15 Black (Zamira) has several players away that weekend at ODP's. They're trying to put together a team comprised of the remaining BU15 players and some BU14 players, then adding another BU15 team to round out the brackets.  Also, the A bracket should read Westsound Red (not White- who are in the B bracket).
