W$Y$A - 2012 brings record salary for a WA Youth Soccer CEO
« on: January 21, 2012, 07:29:39 PM »

Terry Fisher builds on his record smashing salary of 2009/10/11, with an increase of at least 11.6%, this despite a significant prediction of a record loss of players for 2012/13.

Budget decrease of ( $ 425,720.00) for 2012/13 year, WSYSA salaries and benefits will rise $ 124,724.00 this coming year.

WSYSA continues it's #1 status in US for:

1. Highest paid CEO in youth soccer.
2. Highest salary and benefits for staff.
3. Highest per player cost in terms of salary and benefits, total registered players.
4. Highest proposed ratio of budget to salary and benefits (43% of total budget is salary and benefits, as compared to 33% in 2011).

Who said WSYSA was #8 in USA?

2011/12 Budget $ 3,232,750.00
2012/13 Budget $ 2,807,030.00
Decrease of (13.2%)

2011/12 Salary & Benefits $ 1,072,450.00
2012/13 Salary & Benefits $ 1,197,174.00
Increase of 11.6%

-------------

Predict an unprecedented move by WSYSA to control revenue streams of soccer across WA for 2012 and beyond.

So if what you are saying is true... why do WSYSA employees get a raise while the rest of us are staying pretty steady with salaries (or people are being laid off), trying to figure out how to pay for their salary increases so our kids can play soccer???

Seems like that is another reason to say enough is enough on how the state handles things...   What has the state done to better the soccer environment for our kids that makes them think they deserve a raise????  If anything they all deserve a severe pay cut!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just my .02....

Where do you get that they cut services and gave pay raises from these numbers? They don't specify staff numbers, and the reduced overall budget is more likely related to assumptions on team counts for leagues and tournaments and player registrations. Just curious - lots of assumptions being made from a top line number.

So are you saying they anticipate lower numbers but are increasing their staff?  That doesn't help clarify the questions...

Pops, when your business is declining is it time to give yourself a raise?

Pops,

Let me simplify the equations for you, removing those really confusing assumptions:

Less Revenue = Smaller Organization (WSYSA)

Smaller Organization = Downsizing

Big increase in Salary and Benefits = Everyone gets a raise

Didn't they recently create a new position.   I thought I remembered they did but can't remember what it was.  If they did, that would account for much of the increase.   Healthcare costs to up every year.   It could be that they got little or nothing for raises.   Not saying this is the case but I can say there is not enough information here to conclude they got big raises.

The salary line is $922,270.  The benefits line says there are 18 employees.

$922,270/18 = $51,237 average salary per employee.

Sorry, but that doesn't sound worthy of all the hyperbole on this board.

Add in the taxes, benefits, vacation, ect and your up to 66.5k per employee. Of the 18, probably 10-12 are minions making 35-40k, which means more for the top dogs.
Then add in the 21k and 25k that GW and The Prez got for free travel, food, rooms, ect. and pretty soon it's not a bad gig.
The free vehicles aren't included in this. they're a seperate line item.

Yeah, and I heard one of the cars is an Audi TT; I'm not sure if that car falls into the practical category.

Look at the the payroll variance from the 10' -11' season to the 11'-12' season

Approved Budget Sept 10-Aug 11   $475,000

Actual Sep '10- Aug 11  $888,117

Budget / Actual Variance  $ (413,117)
How do you blow payroll by 87%  ??? ??? That is paroll was 87% higher than forcast.

Then they approved a budget of $815,000 for Sep 11' - Aug 12'    Which they will probably go exceed.
And finally they approve a budget of $922,270 for Sep 12' to Aug 13'
This is a 13% increase over the current year budget( 11'-12')
Nice work  :drinks:

A number of their corporate board positions are non paid or part time positions. For 2012/13 Terry Fisher will hit $ 200,000.00 in total benefits.  Also 922,270 is only one line item in the wages and benefits.... please add up the 3300's series of line items for a complete picture.

A very good point to bring up in the budget talks this weekend.

What value does Terry Fischer bring to WYS at 200k/year?

Terry Fisher has been rather efficient at rooting out those people in the WSYSA who volunteer to make soccer better for the kids rather than for the WYS.  Perhaps he is should be retitled as "ratcatcher in chief", with the rats being those who do not blindly follow El Presidente.
This service has to be worth a tremendous amount of our money.

Don't eat the El Presidente cheese.

This is pretty reckless.  There is no way these individuals are worth this.
