Teams that have not lived up to billing
« on: October 11, 2005, 11:13:40 PM »

Curious if anyone has seen a team or knows of any teams that have "Truly" underachieved this year. It's a couple games from the halfway point and I'm just curious how people feel.

This isn't a bash thread, but each year there are teams that happen to just fall off the face of the planet.

Here one to start it off....

Snohomish U-17 boys (lost like 6 players) before the season and will go from 2nd last year I think to maybe 4th or 5th. Not really a lot the coach can do, and to stay even competitive is a testiment to their coach.

GU-16 Crossfire - Jenkins. It's actually pretty sad. Just by being on the side line and watching a few games... this team has so much potential but it's not even close to being used. I personally think many of the players actually play in the wrong positions! They were 2nd in P-1 last year (I think) and they probably will end up 5th or 6th this year. I don't think this team has progressed... if anything they're leveling off. It's sad to see....  :|

I really thought Snohomish BU-15 (Titans) would play P2 a little better.  They destroyed P3 last year.

Yeah, look at last year's state champs @ GU15.  Almost halfway through the season and not a win in the win column.

Looks like they are in the Rseat unless they start getting it together like the GU16 xfire team.

Federal Way Storm '91 Green hellooooooooo, way way undrachieved, they could probably do way better in P-1 but they just couldn't find that  goal scoring edge. We will see now though, this weekend is the first game of their new player from the B team and he is a great goal scorer, I just wonder how he will do in P-1. I wish him luck though, and hopefully he will ahve a dream debut, and scores the winner     . I know he can, hes done it before!!! So you better watch out eddy and your beloved DynaBLOW dause you don't have a clue as to how good this kid really is!

davey storm probably could have challenged crossfire and united for the top but their best player left and went to united and he was one of the better goal scorers out there i dont think they are underachieving cause they dont have the personel to do any better

HI Thenry. You are right in your post. We saw the first game where the player that went to united played his former storm team. He did well. Storm is missing him.
Hey... is your homework done???

Their first Game of the P-1 season they TIED emerald city, which byt he way was supposed to be the worst ones in P-1, them and Heat, and they were supposed to battle it out for the spot to stay in P-1. So I don't think it was just their forward. He did good in Pasco but isnt doin too well in P-1...facts people...facts

GU16 Sun City Red in P2.  Have no idea what happened to this team. They went from a contender in P2 last year with many girls playing for the high school state finalists to no wins, no ties, no goals for and 17 against in six games this year???  What on earth happened there?

Who are you talking about?  Are you saying that the current forward of the Storm is not doing well in P1?  A former teammate of yours?  Are you now putting down the team that you were whinning about not so long ago because you were not picked to move up?  The Storm is struggling-thats true.  Without notice, a key member of the team left disrupting the chemistry of the team.  I doubt that any team that has played the Storm consider the game an easy win!  Don't count them out yet!!

DaveBeck,   Anyway, if you want, why not watch the Storm vs Dynamo game tomorrow, 1pm Storm's home field.   You want to see a great striker,  come and watch tomorrow,  the Dynamo are the best, in fact why not even introduce yourself to the coach, let him know who you are,  next year tryouts he'll remember you, rather than just a number.  In fact why not ask him if you can work out with the team,  we just had a player do that a week or two ago,  but the team is full (18players) but next year you never know.  ;)

Two problems, actually i could name a few more, but i dont want eddies feelings to get hurt.  I have a game on saturday at 1 also, and I live in Gig Harbor, and plus, you guys ahve PLENTY of players, and with such a good TEAM why would you need me?  I mean of course I would probably sit on the bench for each game, and your ball hoggers can go play around with the ball.      Thanks for the offer eddy, but at the moment i am devoted to my team and I wouldn't leave unless i was ASSURED a starting position.  I highly expect that this new player on the Green team shall cause you guys all sorts of pain.  Good luck eddy, i mean, get ready to LOSE             :D  :D

Dbeck,  if you are good enough to play for the Storm A team then you should play at that level, of course if it meant riding the bench and hardly playing then you should consider an alternative.

The Dynamo are a great team,  if you had the opportunity to play for them, you should jump at the chance, but you may ride the bench, it is very competitive, and  the commute, hey there's a player at Bu 14 P1 that commutes from the Tri-cities to play P1, Gig Harbor is a cakewalk when compared to that.  If you have time come and watch the striker for the Dynamo on Sat,  there isn't a better striker out there at this level.

If this so called best striker in this level is on the Dynamo then that would be a lie. The best strikers in the league are on Storm, FC United, and Crossfire. But to say you have hte best striker is ludicrous, and should be shunned upon. There is no real "best striker", because you can't measure that.

If you put all the "better strikers" in a 1 on 1 situation then you would see many different ways of beating the player, some would use speed, some skill, and some just a good old fashion curler on goal. You can't truly measure the best striker at this age group, and since eddy is choosing to be such an idiot about this, then I'm saying there is one of the best under rated strikers on crossfires B team, and i bet you have no clue who I'm talking about, but since he is training with one of the bette coaches at this age, and he is actially playing so he can get better, rather than riding the bench and not getting play time so he has no clue as to how to play in game situations.

So Eddy, NO!!! I DON'T WANT ON THE DYNAMO, AND I STILL WOULDNT CARE IF IT WAS 3 MILES AWAY!!!

DBeck;  I guess you weren't at the game, too bad.  It was a good game,  Dynamo dominated just couldn't finish, what else is new.
The best striker in the league was a little off, yet hit the crossbar once and had two or three near misses. This Dynamo striker has all the tools, he can beat you with size, speed, skill, finesse, or a curling upper v shot,  right or left foot.  Ask anyone.  The Storm played hard oh and by the way Dbeck,  that new player you warned us about,  forward was it,   he was average,  didn't do anything really.  As for the big blonde Storm defender ask him how good the Dynamo striker is,  he will tell you, and the invitation still stands,  ask our coach if you can work out with team,  and then we will see if you can put up or shut up about how you deserve to be playing P1.  ;)  If you get the ok from our Coach  I think you would enjoy the experience and learn a great deal in the process, what would you lose by trying?   Nothing,  its a win/win situation for you.  By the way how did your team do this weekend?  Good Luck to you,  I hope to see you at a Dynamo practice.

Dbeck,  how about a practice game between your team and the Dynamo?  What do you think?  Let me know.

Edmonds, Edmonds, Edmonds.  When I say no I meran no.  Sure your Dynamo are good, and sure you would lov eto see me at a practice, but I do live in Gig Harbor, and where are u guys? O yeah! Lynwood/Seattle, and do you think we have the time and money to travel to Lynwood/Seattle every practice and game?  The awnser is no, and scouting at this point isn't in the equation fo rme unless it's for the Green team or ODP (which both I highly doubt i will get).

And the my team scrimmage the Dynamo you might as well guess what im going to say, NO.  It would be a shame, and we would end up losing 10-0 or more.

If you are so curious of how good of a player I am and if I am truly a P-1 player then you should see for yourself, I'm not goin to do the work for myself because I'm not the one who wants to move, I am very fine where I am and like playing 50+ minutes a game, and not riding the bench.  Oh and by the way, what # was this new player from the B team Edmonds?

Dbeck, Dbeck, Dbeck,   ever hear of a carpool,  bring a teammate along with you,  the Dynamo have a few players that carpool from the Sammamish Plateau.  I was just trying to help you out,  after all you were the one complaining after the other player was called up to the Green team and not you.  The player in question had shorts with #4 on them and I believe a makeshift number 17, may have been 14 but I am almost positive it was 17, Real Madrid/Seimens jersey too,   avg forward at best,  don't think he would make the Dynamo.  By the way did you guys win or not?

We won, and I don't know who I would carpool with, since no one lives in Gig harbor/Tacoma that plays on Dynamo.  And I don't care that he made the green team or not now, I actually feel happy for him and wish him the best of luck.

What do you mean by the Siemens Mobile Real Madrid jersey???

The player had a  Real Madrid (ManU ?) jersey with a taped #1 next to the 7 hence makeshift # 17, he did not have a reg Storm jersey, he wore shorts with the #4 on them,  and the big forward for Green #4  has that number anyway.

I DON'T WANT ON THE DYNAMO, AND I STILL WOULDNT CARE IF IT WAS 3 MILES AWAY!!!

hahahaha i love that calling somebody the best striker in the league is ludicrous when they've received so much acclaim, especially from one so opposed to the player's team as VMS. are you honestly going to say that a player's worth can't be measured? what then, is the point of a tryout or of playing a game at all? everyone has their own opinion as to what makes a player great, but that doesn't give you the right to dismiss the potential validity of edmonds' or anyone else's. what is the World Player of the Year award, if not a comparison of players who in some cases never even encounter each other in the give year that the vote is held. edmonds is comparing players in one position on only 8 teams, of which the Dynamo is among the best. i also have to scoff at your judgement of the 1v1 situation's paramount importance in determining the value of a striker (don't think i'm saying it's not an important tool). don't make the same mistake that Real Madrid did in dismissing players such as Samuel Eto'o for their lack of individual flair, failing to recognize unparalleled efficiency.

people aren't shunned upon, they are shunned, best strikers but not best striker?

what does any of your post have to do with you not wanting to play for Dynamo?

please note that all of my favorite players are those players with flair and creative personality, and i'm certainly not a Samuel Eto'o fan, though i love the monkey dance. the only German i like is Deisler, the only Turk Ilhann, my English idols are Joe Cole and Shaun Wright-Phillips, and to a lesser extent Owen Hargreaves and Micheal Owen, and i definitely don't like the way Brian McBride plays (but you certainly can't argue with the dude's productivity)
